Rastas doing it wrong...?

Hi
I watched this the other night:
Tbh, Im not a massive fan of these guys, but thats not the issue. In the comments, many people say the weed looks like complete schwag. Poorly cured, poorly fed, low grade weed, with quite a few saying the Cali outdoor stuff is a far, far superior product.
I just thought it was an interesting debate - traditionally grown, organic, all - natural weed or high performing/potency strains using the very latest grow techniques...which ultimately produces the superior product??
Any thoughts?

I hope you catch all them strain hunters flicks

for GHS it was a PR disaster

many viewers /me too

had expected greenhouse to start selling these landraces

but nah !

they kept them to themselves

and crossed them with their shitty crosses

arjan king of weed

BULLSHIT

but the italian guy (black t shirt above) has since died

a pity as he was the brains of the operation

ghs has been living off their super lemon haze ever since

good luck

From what i've seen of legal american weed I think i'd prefer organic jamaican any day. Sure modern american weed looks nice but from what i've been told from a lot of growers and from what I gather by watching / reading a lot about the stuff being sold in stores (also growing many modern american strains) It's all about the looks and thc percentage over there, both of which aren't very important (although in the last year especially I have started seeing a big change towards chasing those terps)

However I will say that the care cali outdoor growers put into the plants will obviously produce a better over all product (yield etc) however if you were to take those cali growers and put them in jamaica, then you would have something real special going on. The light intensity and the fertility of the soil over there is naturally way better than in cali. These guys obviously don't care to grow massive trees and tend to their needs like american growers because they're not growing to make cash and they don't need to worry about a plant limit, they just plant as much as possible and enjoy life living in their gardens smoking their quality herb. Entirely different kind of culture to the whole american "wow 16% thc that's reggie, that's ditch weed bro" "wow that's larf bro look at that weak shit we only smoking top shelf out here" kind of shit. Who cares if the weed is a little leafy? who cares if it's not super dense? who cares if it's not 30% thc? if you know anything about cannabis you should know looks aren't shit and a higher thc percentage doesn't necessarily mean stronger than something with less thc

Cheers, some interesting views there. I guess there are things that they could both learn from each other. Obviously i think as a smoking experience joining the rastas up in the mountains of Jamaica wins hands down. Its great what they are doing, living off the land, growing all the ganja, veggies and fruit they need and turning their backs on the ratrace. I wonder if the day to day life is really as idyllic as it seems!

I agree with noinch looks and high thc don't mean shit. I'm after the terps and the wonderful taste. I'd rather smoke low thc that taste amazing over a 30% thc that taste like chemicals. Living organics for life!

LOL!

We go to Jamaica, regularly. You get 10 ft out the airport door (5 ft from the police standing there) and some schmuck comes up and says, "Hey, you wanna buy some weed? It'll be schwag and if you buy, another will come up and offer the real deal brain stomper bud.

They too have found the on-line seed dealers. Many strains around are newer and not the ol' Rasta Lamb's bread staple. You have to look for the Rasta's for the ol' Landrace's for the most part.
You can find that in the back row's of the local's markets and in their local "booth bars". In those "markets", the Rasta's will have their drum and carving booth's. Some real nice "finger" or "hand rubbed" hash is always around too. Like the fenced in local sales area next to the Och Rio's cruise terminal.
Ocho has some of the best "festival" parties in late April. Music, beer and spliff's laced with that wonderful hash are all over the place.

Cool runn'in's Mon.

We like April and being there for "festival"......
Sometimes twice a year..... Tend to avoid Nagril but, for the Jerk...

Have coffee grower friends on the Blue Mountain. We either stay there or at Dr. Sangster's place on the mountain. Went to his funeral in 01, and still friends with his nephew and his partner in the distillery, beautiful place up there.
We got married in "FernGully" buy our local Baptist island pastor. That was over 30 years ago..... Great place, just don't go walking around parts of Kingston, eh? 8).

Must be a great place to visit. How safe are you way off the beaten track, and can you find accomodation there ok?

My wife just booked our 1st trip 7 years ago because she knew I would be indecisive about it. We love the people there and have developed some fantastic relationships there with the locals. In fact my buddy has a few lbs of blue mountain coffee on the way to me right now.

Never been to Kingston and don't want to go there. When the locals tell you bad things, I surely don't want to be there. I was actually watching a show, I think it was on VICE channel and it was about all the gangs in Jamaica, with most of them being in Kingston.

We went to a grave digging party a couple years back in Orange Bay with a few of our local friends, what an experience that was. it was a mass murder of 8 people.

'nuff respect gad hed'

Oh yes! Like I said, you don't hang out in Kingston, other then the "safe" tourist destinations. I'm not terribly fond of Nagril, Montego Bay but, that's due to the high amount of tourist resorts in play.

Accomodation's are best looked into before going. If you want to skip the all inclusive or other resorts. There are plenty of "safe" local places to stay....

If you want off the beach, and in nature.. I might suggest Lime Tree Farm! Really really great place. Phone: +1 876-446-0230 Less then $100

On the mountain? Jay's guest house is really nice! Stunning views and everything is simply outstanding at an "off the beaten trail price"! You can hike trails to the peak of Blue mountain, right from the place too. Phone: +1 876-321-8204 less then $100

Treasures in Clairmont has a nice pool and is super cheap but still very nice. You will deal with the owner directly, for the most part. Great guy! Less then $50 Phone: +1 876-972-3991

I've been told by great sources that the B&B - Nine Miles Cultural Hangouts and Tours in St. Ann (14 miles SW of Ocho) is wonderful, and we need to go there. Considering who this is from....We have it on the top of our short list...$75 Last # I had was - Phone: +1 876-386-8417

There are plenty of others and they can all be looked up, if you care to spend that time..

If you want on the beach.... I might suggest Treasure Beach Hotel...shit ton of Humming birds there, very peaceful on a large property. Southern coast. $120 -$150 Phone: +1 876-965-0110

Katamah Beach Guest House at Frenchman's bay is always nice. This is just east of the Treasure Beach ^. $75 - $160 I don't have the #.

*** While called a resort and it fits in a way. Great Huts resort in Port Antonio is really fun and affordable! This place is known as an Eco Tourism resort! We love this place! Unique room's and Treehouses. From $79... Phone: +1 876-353-3388 This place is soo cool.....worth the price!...You name it, everything is great!

I would be remiss, if I didn't put in the Reggae Hostel in Ocho Rios in this seaside beached list. Our favorite stay for Festival in Jamaica! Food available will be breakfast. Plenty of food to taste in Ocho, and "Santa", or anyone on the staff can direct you to anything to eat or that's going on in the city! I highly suggest this for a beach front stay! Phone: +1 876-974-2607 Well less then $100

Those are a few we have visited and one that's next on the list, due to known reviewers.

Have fun!

Just book a trip and you will not regret it. DO not and I MEAN DO NOT stay at an all-inclusive.
This is SOOO right! It's not worth it! Crowds and attitudes everywhere!

Lime Tree
Great Huts
Reggae
Jay's guest house

My top 4, in no particular order!

Now hitting the popular tours - Dunn river falls, Dunn river rafting, Blue Mountain coffee tour (sometime we'll hitch a ride on the BM coffee run and get dropped at Sangster's. Tip the driver well and he'll add that stop to the tour. You'll get free tastings of Doc's Rum's and a tour of the distillery. Hell, you might just find us sitting in a little viewing hut on the property.) are quite safe! It's worth doing at least once. Anyplace you stay will direct you to them.....

It looks like Lambo was a strain they created after this adventure. Might run it up on Mt Rainier at high altitude and see what I get out of her.
