rate my ghetto cfl setup

Its like an open closet, cause I live in a corner of the basement. So ive got plenty of height but its 2feet wide, by 4feet long. I just wanna know if there is anything wrong about my setup or the way it looks. Ive been using tin foil reflectors which I know isnt the best cause it can create hot spots, so im working on making some mylar ones. Im not too worried about smell, just to the right of the picture ive got my window so I think combined with that being open and some fa breeze I should be able to air it out pretty well. So I guess my main question is by the looks of my setup is there any reason I shouldnt be able to fully veg and flower a plant and get myself some good medical buds?

Oh and as far as flowering is concerned ive got cardboard cutouts that fit up in my widow perfectly, so whatever time of year it was I can make my room completly dark for the 12/12 cycle.

Im currently running Four 27W daylight cfls. 5500k

You need more lights for sure. I would recommend at least doubling your lighting for just one plant.

Well,, for my money...
Just one of them bulbs is all you need at this point. Move it down close and sideways.
Maybe drape some aluminul foil over the bulb for a reflector if you must get fancy. :joint:

Oh ya, double that. So, 8 freekin CFLs on one little seedling? LMAO!! Light energy required by plants, increases over time, just like nutrients and water. You only need about 1-2 cfls on that guy for a week or so IMO. Or, you can waste tons of extra power, and get the same or worse results due to heat.

Increase your lighting as the plant gets taller, keeping it as close as you can.

haha exactly what I was thinking.

You can be able veg like that but what you plan on doing come flower time.
Four 42w 2700K red specturm cfls. Each with 2800 lumens. So its over 10,000. That should be enough right?

How do you know he didnt mean the same thing and just left out a time to do add them by? I'd say at least triple it by flowering stage and then add more lighting as flowering goes on until the stretch phase is over. If your going to use cfls you need to use alot of them. Use both red and blue spectrum bulbs through out the grow Trust me, ive got alot of experience with growing with cfls, youve got enough room to do a good cfl grow. It will be worth it, youll still have all those lights and other equipment you get, so you can keep growing for quite a long after this first grow is over. It's not like its just all gone. the items will still be there to do many more grows w/no-minimal further investment.

For flowering that will work, but it wont yield much. Either you could get 8-12 cfls which would help you basically double your yield. For flowering they need more light. Cfls are great for veg, but i would almost consider a 150w hps light. Basically same electric bill..
Happy toking :)

You should try a grow cab, you can make one out of just about anything really. Like a book shelf, cabinet, hell, even a couple cardboard boxes. If you do make one, there are tons of guides on here. I'm making one myself if you ever need ideas or anything.

That lumen output is measured at 0 inches from the bulb. Your bulbs are not going to be touching the canopy, so you will not have 10000 lumens on your plant. You'll be ok for veg but once flower comes around you might want a few more 27w 2700k CFL's for side lighting to grow those side buds up.

you have enough light if you make the spot smaller by inclosing the area with milar or white walls. to much of that light is going to waste. you should also put a reflector on the tope of you light so all the light goes down and inwards towards plant. go with 65k while in veg then switch to 27k when flowering. the smaller the room the better as long as you can keep it cool. remember the power of the light drops dramitacly every 6in from sourse. get a role of milar and some cardboard and build a t-pee that you can make bigger as the plant grows and put it over the light and plant, but will hold heat in more so keep eye on temp
