RDWC 5gal. Buckets vs Roots

I am using 18gal buckets in a 5x5 for flowering. I'm setting up a 4x4 for veg. I want to use 5gal in veg tent. For you guys using 5gal, how much root growth do you have by the time you flower? Are they growing through the pipes so that transferring to my flower buckets will be a problem? I want to avoid the 18gal buckets, but can set them up if needed. Thanks in advance brochachos.

depends how long you veg as to how much root mass you'll have.

5g pails here 5" net pot, water fall and air stone rdwc.About 60-75% full with a month veg.Air keeps the roots up and out of my drains.

I figure i will veg for about 7 weeks. I want to rotate as soon as i pull the others from flowering and have system cleaned out.
