That's why you pre-mix and balance your reservoir water, so that it's feeding the bucket the good stuff

that wouldn't work because if the bucket you are topping up has drifted above 6.4 ph and you add pre mixed balanced nutes @ 5.8 the bucket you are topping up will still have the wrong starting ph. if you're not worried about keeping ph consistent then yes that idea would work. but i changed my mind im a just do that modified lid idea that the other guy showed as that solves my problem

That's why I sourced a stainless hinge and hardware.
