Im a webmaster and have a stupidly elaborate understanding of the internet.

@rollitup, Feel free to lock this thread again, i do not want everyone flaming mods and admins, you provide a free service, for which i am thankful, i know how you feel as im currently a moderator on whirlpool.com.au and various electronics and hobby forums, i cannot volunteer for mod on rollitup, BUT

You have a problem with people not using the report button, On most other forums, we use a module in control panel that flags any posts with foul language,

So if a post contains the 2 foul words or more, its flagged into a list, you, as an admin, can skim through the list of posts, and anything that stands out like "fuck you you stupid black n***** cunt" or "stfu, you are a waste of oxygen and i cant belive you were the fastest sperm to hit the egg", You are able to just hit delete, from a central place. Without having to trawl through forums. I also notice you were hacked late 2012.

Do you need some help, ill offer to help as a one time thing.. just to make life easier for you and your community.

I appreciate everything the admins and mods do, i have nothing negative to say.

Im just trying to offer you a semi-automated moderation system. It still requires user input to determine whther you just delete the post, or IP/user ban.

The newbie section is out of control. Id volunteer as a moderator for just the newbie section, although id have to drop one of my other responsibilties. Im going to be around rollitup for a LONG time.

Could i request a chat with your webmaster or admin please?

The solution is just too simple.

Thanks, im not sure how potroast will react but it does need to be discussed. I have thought about seeing if a script could help filter through posts just as you stated and it sounds like a very good idea, things would be able to be done a lot quicker on staffs side.

Sounds like internet tyranny.

I believe the mods could delete abusive posters without getting into the nanny bit of watching nasty language. Unless it gets really abusive.

But see what this does? It just makes staffs life easier overall, instead of waiting specifically for reports they can just take a look and see if anything is to serious.

Also this thread isnt specifically targeted at staff, its just we do have unactive staff and id prefer to keep this not targetted only at them, mostly suggestions to help benefit them and us overall. I do believe that some mods do need to be talked to.

Again, If you do not understand how VBULETIN WORKS, dont post, VBULLETIN does not use scripts, its uses modules, which are all coded together, and then a "theme" is applied over the top.

So in short, forums is a module, PM is a module, REP is a module etc etc etc, Then a theme is applied.

The reason this is done, it simplifies maintenance, and once a site is active and stable, it requires stuff all user input to maintain.

VBULLETIN allows the installation of modules, you can just flick shit on and off. Without having to overhaul the whole site.

I have a PRIVATE script i have written, for another site, i will NOT publicly release it, as i sell it. BUT

I would be willing to provide it to RIU at no charge on the conditions they abide by a non-disclosure agreement, it means they cannot share it, but i will allow them to modify it. No part of the source shall be released or replicated.

Essentially, you get a screen as a admin, that displays ALOT of information, in regards to amount of posts by user per day, amount of reports user has incurred, amount of times user has posted pre-determined language. you can then hide, remove, ban etc etc WITHOUT having to even enter the thread.

Please, if you are not a webmaster, you have no idea how complex this is to implement, im offering a solution for free, the reason is i like this forum, it is detrimentally flawed, and i find it aggrivating.

I want it to get better, not stay the same....
