Hello All,

This is my first grow! I'm hoping by coming here I can get some good feedback on the things I am doing right and not so right.

The girls are coming up on 8 weeks since the seeds were planted. thought they would be further along... I have Super Silver Haze, Bubba Kush, and Cheeseberry. originally planning on 2 plants but some seeds got mixed up. I wanted SSH and BK, some other seeds were free. I didnt see another plant hurting anything :lol:. I wanted a variety in the plants because I haven't had much variety in weed myself. I have just transplanted to the final pot, Solo > 1 gal Smart > final 3 gal Smart. Some of the roots were showing at the sides of the 1 gal Smarts. I have been feeding every other Sunday and just went %100 nutes per cyco regimen. seems to be taking it well... I think I have some PH problems on some leaves. I have no clue why, i use distilled water and always ph after nutes... I have obviously not pruned or topped yet. I have watched vids of both, just dont know when to do either. Scared to make a move or F'ing something up... I saw no vertical growth for weeks so I raised raised my LED in the last 2-3 weeks and see improvement. I read you want to keep them 12-18" from plant. So I kept it close. LED isn't near hot enough to damage. Also, I just turned on the LED strips on the sides of the cabinet to possibly help veg. They have a lot of blue light. Thought the strips would add some decent watts in flowering. I have studied for days but right now I'm needing an experienced green thumb. My end goal is to have my girls at 3'. That is the room that I have for them.

Info:
Strain = Super Silver Haze, Bubba Kush, and Cheeseberry
Medium = Cyco Coco Coir
Nutes = Cyco Grow A+B, Boost B1
Temp = 70-75
Hum = 35-45
PH = 5.5-5.8
On/Off = 18/6
Air Exchange Rate = 2-3 mins

Setup:
(1) 300w 9-band Galaxyhyrdo LED
(5) 10w 2-band Grow Strips LED powered by Intocircuit 30W LED Power Supply
IPower Carbon Air Filter
Soler & Palau TD-125 In-line Exhaust Fan
PC Intake fan
DIY Closet Cabinet / Cabinet size: 36" x 20" x 76" / Grow space: 34.5" x 18.5" x 57"

Questions for the experienced:
1. I know I have some different strain but they both seem to be bushy with no vertical stems. Is this a good thing, I have room for 3'? If not what are my options?

2. Should I be doing any pruning or topping?

3. How far from flowering are they?

Question...
Does the air filter use or produce Ion's to clean the air? If yes remove it or turn off the Ion production. Pot's look to small. By this time. Judging by the layers of the plant. I would have my babies in a 5 gallon pot. If you want 3 feet you need a 3 gallon pot. I don't like to give them any less than 5 gallons. My thought is the roots have run out of room. The way these things root always astounds me. On the very top just under the soil they form skinny roots in all directions. They just straight down maybe the one tap root. What should happen with the right soil is tightly knit small roots holding the entire container of dirt together. If you use small pots like that they adjust. To a smaller height. See some rotting leaves. They are to close to the dirt. You need to make this plant stretch for light right now. It's way to compact. Please remove leaves that are browning or yellowing. If they hit the dirt they just attract bugs.

I see the picture of your grow area. That can only have one budding plant in it. When they get to that stage they spread out. Here's a picture I found online. I can't attach my own like I did for my avatar.

There is a full size fan behind this one plant.
You may want to check out some grow journals on here. Not trying to rush the grow. It's you need the room for the pay out. Sometimes it can be huge.20150820_072718.jpg 20150820_072718.jpg This is one of my plants. Thats 5 feet tall and around 4 feet wide. 20150820_072718.jpg 20150820_072718.jpg Sorry this isn't working. That plant is in a 5 gallon bucket. I made the mistake of harvesting to soon. Hope I have helped. Behind the plant is a normal size door. Its been painted green for my grow closet.

Make a bigger grow space. Them babies gonna be cramped when they flower. Yi can flower them whenever you want btw. I would also start lst and super crop on them. Or maybe not since your space is so small.

I can't pinpoint your issues really I mean I'm going to say you're trying too hard.. Eight weeks to get to eight inches is horribly slow growth. Idk anything about led but I get much better growth under compact flouros a few 100w daylight bulbs are fine more than enough for three small plants. Don't grow in pure coco use soil mix to learn!! With the mix you do not feed until the plants are about the size they are now, which should take about 3 weeks from germination and then they should just blow up and start needing food. You cannot go to three feet with the light you have let alone the space. You must flower those when they get to about 14-18 inches or your yield will be choked out even with pretty good training if you go much larger, remember they continue to grow for your first week or two in 1212... So my overall advice, that's an ambitious plan and set up for a new grower. Flip those soon and run them best you can, they won't be great but you can learn the rest of the process. Get yourself some roots organic medium, don't feed until its ready, and id throw some different lighting in for veg just because I'm not sure about led though and your growth very slow.. Do those things and you will see speed improvement learn well for that basic grow. Learn what the plant needs, what your looking at and how different plants grow, and keep a standpoint of less is more. You will have better results

Looks like you have a slight mg def beginning also?!?! At that height? It's the age though making that possible... Stay away from that coco until you have experience! Much less forgiving

My guess is your lighting, goal is to have them close enough to give them what the NEED for growth BUT still be far enough to make them want more so they reach towards the lights and as for nutes your plants look great a little small for their age but that may be from you moving containers and their adjusting to the new bucket, so they are still growing buttt you can't see it cause it's happening below the soil, you want to be careful switching pots also, #1 try not to break a lot of roots durring transfer a few tiny ones are ok, cause it's gonna happen, but if you break the large one in the center then it's game over, #2 you don't want them to be in tooo big of a container change, they will get root bound, that means ALL they will do is root grow,#3 try to least traumatize your plant, so prep your other bucket with everything it needs I like to mildly nute my soil the night before I transfer and stick it outside in the Sun for 24 hours in sunlight so 2 days and mix the soil very well with the mutes in it, mix it around at 3 o'clock by hands when the top of the soil is kinda warm from the direct sunlight then slightly nute the top soil (while warm ) befor hand mixing) reach clear to the bottom and pull that soil to the top after nutes were added, now that the soil has been turned, re-heat the soil in direct sunlight for your second half the process, let sit for the second half of the 24 hrs so that's 12 more hrs in direct Sun let sit. Go out and check your pot of soil the next day, if the top soil is nice and toasty warm on top then it's done. Take it inside, kinda cubby up a small whole and lightly place your plant in the crater you made for it, oh yeah almost forgot, hand mix soil one last go round before putting the plant in it, again pulling bottom soil to the top. But place your plant in it's new home and pat it down and surround it well I like to put about 2 inches of my stem that wasn't under dirt before under the soil (just makes the plant more secure, more stable, and wetter heavily but not too heavy and you don't need to nute it, the nutes are already in the soil remember, you won't water it again for 2-3 weeks, now your ready to put your well nuted well watered bea,uty back with her sister's or just back in her house, (soil is now vitamin D enriched because you left it in the sun, the plant will LOVE it, and show you how much she liked it by just taking off in her new housing unit, it reduces chances of shocking your plant also, (some people like to put celaphane or plastic wrap over top the bucket to prevent pests from entering soil and also making a sort of green house affect, keeps pests out heats soil faster and better, keeps moisture in container amplifies Sun so more vitamin D and That's always a good thing,) my thought is your shocked Your lady friend by moving her, she's just taking her time adjusting, no worries, she will come around, don't top her until she starts growing upward a little, when. You notice she has grow 2 inches in 3 days then you can pinch the top, as fore now, just watch her, she's too green to be sick or having Any issues,and finally #3 some plants are just that way, they get so tall then slow down UNTIL the veg light hits it, then it takes off again in a race to reach the lol, skunk #1 is like that for an example, but i think your doing a good job, your nutes at 100% kinda made me say hmm interesting lol but other than that it looks like you studied well my friend, I'd say you get your Ghetto farmers pass, lol just watch her I would honestly right now,, if it were me,, just saying, I myself would take her outside for 3-4 days (but my light cycle inside is almost the same as outside) if yours is different then this is off the table, you will just shock her retarded, but if it matches the outside, then do it, give her a few days of true vitamin D, it's amazing what the true sunlight does for plants it cures heals prevents, strengthens, I start mine outdoors till it becomes noticeable at a distance, (2-3 feet tall. But I have a large wood box in my backyard that is kinda burried up to it's rimm, so it's kinda underground 2 foot deep box when my plants reach the top of the box and are vissible I take them indoors, that doesn't take long, but i feel it just gives then a little something extra to stay stronger, do better, at handeling the rest of it's lifespan, I take them indoors and just follow outdoor rules and timers. And my plants most always do wonderfully, yes the change shocks them, but they quickly adjust and quickly adapt, soon you will be sitting on the couch feeling good and munching on some munchies enjoying your ladies repayment for her awesome pampered life, lol, my thought, try a few days of sunlight, nute her if you haven't yet already, and just watch her closely, don't top her yet, let her start growing again before you shock the shit out her again, lol, ummm, I think that's it, inside, try turning your flowering lights on NOW she just may be saying "HEY BUDDY! its my time to grow up, so give me the right lights so I can show you my beautiful white tricomb suit with beautiful flowers to smoke, eat, or transform. Lol, in a dork, hahaha but SERIOUSLY try those things, and hit me up in 2 weeks for an update on them beauties. They look like they gonna be some good smoke, with a decent thc output, and nice yield, look like heavy kola producers, I want a update pleas. 2 weeks from today, good luck

Thanks Kermit for the advice,
I am wanting to finish the flowering stage close to 3 feet. Just like you said I was thinking about starting flowering at 14-18. And they will probably be all over each other because I was originally planning on only 2 plants.

I really think I had the LED way to close. The plant continued to grow but not up. I have not seen a lot of LED guides so I wasnt very sure where to place it. But I have moved the light near the top of the cabinet and I'm gonna wait to see if they stretch for it.

Thanks for the advice on the soil. But Hydro is the way I want to go in the long run. So starting soil would only give me experience using soil. I figured Id just learn how to grow in coco and see what happens.

I know the space is small. Its all I can do with it being concealed. It is tucked away in a closet. I figured it would be really tight for 3 girls, I was planning on only 2. This is my first grow so I will finish these out and figure something out for next time. Thanks.

Now I've never used leds but I keep my lights nice and close because what you have there that short squat growth is very good, the only problem is how long its taking.. They will always grow up eventually even if the light is close given everything else is desirable in the environment, you want to be careful not to gain height just by stretching them out that doesn't do any good for you! Ambitious though I have no doubt you will get your style down

Looks small for a 3 usgallon pot,

allow 1 us gallon per month the pant is with you,or a liter per week

3 us gallon = 3 months

to my blog on the 12 week grow: https://www.rollitup.org/Journal/Entry/12-week-grow-sceneario-by-jorge-cervantas.30164/

I'd still add 20-30% perlite to the soil mix to avoid root compaction and nute burn

good luck
Honestly I dont want to transplant every month if I dont have to. Thats why I went from 1 gal to 3 gal. But I was seeing roots coming from the 1 gal so I did want to move them to the larger pot.

True I didn't even notice that they were super squat. How many nodes do u have on there? Hard to tell with all the leaves. It'll be a little tight but Now that I think of it it'll probably be fine. Never used leds, I'm interested to see what happens.

I see pictures of long and tall plants and was thinking I should try to mimic something similar. So I am raising my led to see if I do get some vertical growth and it seems to have made a difference in the past 2 days. I will keep an eye on them.

Do my plants need any pruning yet? In hindsight I know I should have removed one set of leaves from the bottom and transplant the stem a little. But now I have leaves on the coco. I am thinking I should remove these and some have Hp problems.

I have two led lights that haven't used. I'm glad I saw this. I think imma use em to try to get nice squat plants that that. Make a nice little bush with lst'ing then when I put in flower under the hps they should stretch out nicely. I would def like to follow your grow if you keep it updated.

Yeah they're supersquat alright. Me being a noob Im not eaven sure where to start counting the nodes. I knew the Bubba Kush and Cheeseberry would be squaty (2 plants in the back). But Super Silver Haze (plant in front) is primarily sativa and thought is would have grown differently. Kinda glad it is right there with the others right now tho.DSCN1329.JPG DSCN1332.JPG

I've got some experience with the LED and plant heights. Keep the LED low and they will stay shorter, raise and they will stretch.
I experimented with 2 autos. One is considerably shorter then the other.

Also, you might want to consider another LED 300w for 3 plants. I tried sharing with two flowering plants and they are way too big for it. I'm running 3 LED's 300w now.

If the 3 plants in the cabinet go well. Then I want another LED. However, I know the cab is small. If I run outta room I will do just 2 plants next time.

I may buy me another LED for... Christmas or something... Just in time for Flowering
