Hello, have been checking the temps in my grow room with laser gun thermostate where the light hits directly i am hitting 90. if i aim it in the shade it 78-79. Im not sure what to think? is my grow room too hot?

Iam using a 1000w ms light. Im planning on adding an exhaust this weekend. right now i just leave the door wide open with a fan blowing air into the closet. BTW closet size is 3 X 5 X 8

Are you talking about an "Infrared thermometer" with a laser sight? As I understand it, they read surfaces; not spaces. So you are getting the temperature of the inside walls, not the "air" inside. Assuming this is true: the walls are stationary and receive constant radiated heat; whereas the air is constantly circulating in and out (staying cooler). IDK if that is really the way it works - just my theory.

I would suggest you go to Radio Shack , or somewhere, and spend about $15 or $18 for a "Weather Station". They're an "Inside" digital thermometer that also reads Relative Humidity. It also has an "Outside" senser (connected by a long wire). That way you can read the temperature inside your grow and the surrounding room temperature, at the same time, without opening your box.
