ready for the next step

I'm new to growing, and recently have been growing some bagseed, just to see if my thumb was green enough to keep plants alive. So far, everything has gone well, and I think I'm going to shell the money out on HPS/MH lights, better soils, nutes, etc... . Been doing some research and found that you can grow with HPS for whole life cycle, but it'd be better to have MH for vegetative cycle due to the blue spectrum that it produces.

question 1: Do the advanced HPS bulbs that boast "more blue spectrum", than normal HPS work well???

question 2: While researching, I think I came across conversion MH bulbs that work in HPS sysems. But, I can't find where I was, and am wondering if I even saw that at all???

yeah they make conversion bulbs that allow you to use HPS in a MH ballast or the reverse. They're expensive though.

oh yeah, they also make switchable ballasts, spend a little bit more on one of them, save yourself the trouble of getting 2 separate lights (unless of course you eventually plan to go with separate veg and flower rooms) or expensive conversion bulbs.

Most new magnetic ballasts will take both HPS and MH bulbs by default. Im' not sure if this is true for electronic ballasts though. I suspect not, but I have seen a few switchable e-ballasts.

i run a 600 watt hps through vegging and flowering. i would compare it to a little light as growing apples and then growing watermelons

i dont fuck with the mh i hear its better when vegging but i dont know my shit grows quick

i say just run HPS not even MH. i run a 600 watt HPS the whole time. (vegging/flowering) and couldn't be more happy

cool. I was hoping to be able to get away with using only HPS, (at least for now). How are your yields?
