Ready or Not?

A friend and I are having an argument as to whether or not these plants are ready to be harvested. We have agreed to leave it up to you whether they are ready or not.

In the interest of an unbiased opinion I have agreed not to say who thinks they are ready and who thinks they need more time. Please let us know what you think.

Kinda hard to tell with them under the HPS light, and no way to look at the trichs.

Yep, the trichs will tell the tale. You need to look at the trichs under magnification 30x or better will give you a good look.

agreed.... you can go to radio shack and buy a micro scope for like $10 i think it is?? (im going to by one this weekend) from what i can see tho.. they look pretty much done.. if theyre not ready now.. i would say within the next week at least.. you should put up the pics of the trics if you can.. and then ask everyone.. and then after you gotta tell who which one of you thought it was/wasnt done. lol

Okay, I read the article and agree that experience will tell you when the plant is nearly ready. I read an article by FDD early on when I started coming around here. He talked about recognizing maturity and end of the plants life cycle. Pictures taken under HPS lighting can be very misleading because of the golden haze that it gives. I think if you teach inexperienced growers to watch the trichs they will be less likely to harvest a plant prematurely. I know that my first grow my goal was not to kill the clones that I was generously given while at the same trying to learn to clone. That is plenty to wrap your head around in the beginning. Although watching trichs can appear simplistic in the broader view, it is a starting point. Strain selection and personal preference play a large role in the life cycle of the plant and there are more strains available today than ever before. As I am typing this, someone has probably crossed a couple phenos and come up with a crazy name for it. Just my 2 pennies.
