Ready to harvest

Hello Rollitup members. This is an AK Auto I put on an automatic watering system in a tent. My friend tried to take care of them but she didn't know what to do. The tent is way overcrowded and I see bugs in some of the pictures. Over a month ago a member said to give them another two months. As you can see the buds fell over from the weight (should have been braced). Main thing is they survived. Are they ready to harvest (my first time) and will the bugs ruin the buds? If you can see the bugs can you identify them and suggest a treatment (for the rest of the plants not in flower). Thanks.

Yeah, you gotta prop those up and get rid of the bugs. I'm guessing mites but just a guess. Just not appealing to smoke something with dead bugs all over it so sort of a pressing issue to get figured out.

If there's no webs then your bugs are anphids. The girls are in rough shape they are weak stem wise and they didn't produce to much bud! They are leaning over but not because the buds are to heavy the branches should support 7 times that amount. they are ready tho! As for bug treatment use azamax.. neem oil and safer brand insect killer hit it with one every three days use the azamax and the neem to treat the soil aswell as a folar feed.its hard to get rid of them those little bastards hide and multiply very well!

I think those are mites, p big for spider mites though...
do you have a loupe to look at tricomes with?

Not sure of your set up but I like the pyrethrum bombs. But if the larva are in the soil you'll have to get that treated to and the bombs don't work for that. How much weight a stem can hold is largely genetic but the AK47 should be holding more than yours, from my limited experience with that strain.

I do have a loupe but didn't want the bugs jumping all over me (LOL). I have some close up pictures of the buds I made from these photos. nova1992, what to look for with the loupe? Wonder if I can spray azamax on the buds or just treat the tent with azamax?? That particular AK Auto grew so fast and I was not around to prop it up. The tent is too full so maybe it didn't get enough light.

My ak was holding donkey dicks. Goodluck ripe congradulations on your first harvest some people don't make it its a feat in itself!

These are pics of the plant outside the tent. I accidently broke the top off early on. It was growing like a weed. Thanks for the support on this. I have two Maui Waui's and one Black Russian and a bunch of clones in the same tent. They don't seem to be as affected by the bugs but I'll be spraying aggressively from now on.

It looks like they're covered in spider mites, and that looks like a pretty bad infestation, particularly in pics 3 and 4. I'd suggest not spraying neem on them, though, or they'll taste horrible and hardly be smokable (speaking from experience). With as bad as the infestation looks in those pics, I'd suggest spraying them down really, really well with plain water, trying to wash off all the bugs you can, then using the bud and trim it to make qwiso, and filtering that really, really well. That's what I'd do anyway.

there so infested with bugs. my advice is. spray them with neem oil and water , then chop plant. harvest. let dry. and you will have added protein bugs. lol it wont hurt you just have popping sounds.

Kinda like popcorn. But, seriously, smoking neemed buds (even after a two more weeks of growth) was absolutely disgusting! They taste like neem and coat your mouth and throat with an oily residue. Not pleasant at all. But that's just my cent and a half!

I wouldn't spray anything on them at this point. They aren't spider mites, unless there's a new species that are 20x the size of normal... I would chop the plant and rinse the whole thing in your shower under cold water to try and wash some of the bugs and shit off. Hang them with a fan directly on them until they are dry like you just chopped. Then remove the fan, as they're a small harvest and won't need the added air movement to further their drying.

This is the best advice I see for you so far.

Definitely do not spray with neem now.

You guys/gals are great. Can't tell you how much I appreciate every comment. I pulled the plant out of the tent last night and this morning set it out on the patio. What is the one thing missing in a grow tent? Beneficial predators. I am watching two small black dragonfly-wasp-fly looking flying insects dart around the plant hitting at the bottom of the leaves and it looks like they are eating. I came up with this article that lists a number of predators of spider mites you can buy online: readysetfix.com/SpiderMites.html. I guess outdoor growing isn't so bad if you have the predators keeping the pests at bay. The sun is real strong here and when it came out from behind the clouds the "flying tigers" disappeared. I read that predators only work within a range of temperatures and relative humidity. Thanks everyone on the site for your help.

I did the neem oil trick before . they planters were out side one of my friends ad were fucked with bugs I mean gone ! I did not want bugs in the dry harvest . yeah most of them will leave once dry buds. sprayed the neem on them dryed them . they did not taste like neem at all .

Got a lot done yesterday on the bug problem. I cleaned out the grow tent with dish soap, bleach, and neem oil. Used the shower to spray off two of the three big plants. Wiped down all containers and sprayed bleach-water mix at any remaining bugs in the empty tent. Sprayed all the plants thoroughly with Neem Oil as I didn't have any Azamax or Miticide. There are still mites in there but not as many. Today, I get some azamax and miticide or some kind of beneficial pedator and try to harvest small buds from the AK Auto. Read that spider mites like arid conditions so I watered the plants good with a concoction of nutes. For any newbies using a grow tent - limit the number plants you grow. Also, don't leave the plants unattended like I did. They require lots of care.

The answer is to grow outside somewhere, anywhere and screw the tent, the fan, the filter and just let the pot grow like it was meant to grow under the sun. Gotta find a way to get some mushrooms now and jump down the rabbit hole.
