I'm getting ready to finish up my first seed run; but it's dawning on me that I have absolutely no clue how to tell when a pollenated female is ready - or what to do when she is.
(edit - yellow gunk on leaves is leftover pollen from hand application.)

All advice appreciated!

Have you checked the stage the seeds are at?

6 weeks (or so) after pollination occurred.

In this situation, is it possible to chop too late?

No, I haven't - absolutely no clue what I'm doing. lol
How do I check? --- I see some of the pods are splitting and revealing the seeds.

We're right around week 6 --- I started the girls at different times, and pollenated continually until I could confirm pollenation.

Pop out a couple of seeds. If they are brown and not white/green then they are done.

I usually let seed plants go until I start to see seeds ready to fall out on their own.

That's exactly what I needed to see - looks like a little longer; I'm just starting to see casings opening up.

Uhhhhhh what do I do then? I'm thinking that I just hang individual branches inverted in paper bags to dry, then dry sieve to collect seeds?
edit - can't help noticing the irony that I spent the first year of growing avoiding this exact scenario - preggie plants - so I really have no clue. Fun!

I just dry seeded bud in a tray then break it up when it's dry and collect the seeds. Sometimes I just collect the seeds as I smoke the weed. The weed will still get you good and high.

Not really, they drop seeds into their pots and you'll get volunteers. That's how I know mine are ready to harvest You can also check a calyx too but I'm pretty lazy.
