JC...I'm kinda hesitant to post into this hostile thread, but since I recently got a cut of AJ's SD from Harborside in Oakland and I'm going to ASSume it's a legit source, I'll just share my subjective experience in the early stages of growing it. Mind you, it is still in veg and only has about 10 nodes..
It smells like fucking sour diesel. I mean it smells like...fucking cat piss...sour and fuel...a rotting pussy covered in skunk shit...
...just like you'd expect it to based on the name...
I'm considering removing it from my garden because all of my other plants had created this amazing smell inside my house like incense, flowers, fruit...now, even though SD is one my smaller plants and represents merely ~1-3% of my indoor garden, as soon as i walk into my house (3 doors removed from my garden), all I smell is....

Dream beaver is correct about the aj cut of sour d but it does smell like diesel fuel,when trimming it after harvest be careful ,because it could make you throw up!!!

I have some of AJ's Sour Diesel in week 1 of flower...she is so smelly I needed a carbon filter in my veg room prior to moving to her to the flower room....ill have photos soon to show...but as others pointed out she is a gem of a smoke, you would know if you had her. Kinda like when you have a real Kush....you know it you don't need anyone to validate it for you

At a Grateful Dead show at Deer Creek Amphitheatre, 'joebrand' (aka 'wonkanobe') and 'pbud' met 'chemdog' and sold him an ounce of very high quality pot for $500. joe and chemdog exchanged numbers and they later arranged for two ounces to be shipped to chemdog on the east coast. According to chemdog, one ounce was seedless and the other had 13 seeds.
In ’91, chemdog popped the first 4 seeds. From these seeds, one male was found and disposed of (chemdog was young, you can’t blame him). The 3 females were labeled ‘chemdawg’ (now ’91 chemdawg), ‘chemdawg a’ (now chemdawg’s sister), and ‘chemdawg b’. In '01, chemdog and his girlfriend attempted to germ 3 more seeds, labeled ‘c’, ‘d’, and ‘e’. the ‘e’ seed never germinated, ‘c’ turned out to be junk (according to chemdog), and chemdawg ‘d’ was the keeper. In '06, 'chemdog' and 'joebrand' reunited and joe was given 4 of the last 6 beans: Chemdawg phenos 1-4, '4' being the chosen keeper. Joe thought the '4' was the best representation of the original and thus dubbed it the 'reunion pheno'.
In 1992, JJ became friends with the Weasel in central park. Sometime in 1992-93 the Weasel met Chemdog at a Phish show. They traded clones and he brought the Mass. Super Skunk and 91 Chemdog back with him to New York City and renamed the 91 Chem, "Diesel". Sour Diesel and Under Dawg came out of these clones.
Original Chemdawg Crosses:
• 'OG Kush' (the original cut) came from an s1 from in a bag of '91 Chemdawg in the Lake Tahoe area in 1996.
• 'Sour Diesel' aka ECSD came from an accidental cross of ('91 Chemdawg x DNL after the DNL hermed and seeded the room. The DNL's lineage is Hawaiian/RFK Skunk X NL.) or 91 Chemdawg X Mass Super Skunk
• Underdawg came from a cross of '91 Chemdawg x (Mass Super Skunk x Sensi's Northern Lights) done by a guy known as ‘weasel’.
• 'chemdog' and friends made several crosses that are held closely by a small group of friends and acquaintances. Among them are:
1. Super Snowdawg (Bubble Chem x [Super skunk x Oregon Sno])
2. Giesel (Chem D x Mass Super Skunk)
3. Bubble Chem (Chemdawg’s Sister x Sag's Bubbleberry)
4. Dawg Daze aka ChemHaze (Chem D x ’93 Sensi's NL#5/Haze)
5. Chemdawg D x Pbud (another old-school Colorado strain)
JJ-NYC has been working on a Chemdawg D-based seed line for several years now. He started by crossing Chemdawg D to Sensi's Afghani after thoroughly testing both Sensi's Afghani and Sensi's Hindu Kush to determine which was more stable and would be better for the initial cross. JJ then did a backcross, known as "Double Dawg." Several phenos of this circulate and several people still have beans. JJ's latest work to the line is a second backcross known as "Tres Dawg" which is just starting to get tested. The Tres has produced many keeper strains, Tres Dawg(Chem D X Afghani #1 BX2), Star Dawg(Chem 4 X Tres Dawg), White Dawg(The White X Tres Dawg), and recently a new 91 Chem cross, Original New York City Diesel(91 Chem X Tres Dawg).

Seriously? In all your years of growing you've never grown out a dud strain that wasn't any good?
I can think of a couple I wish had never even germed. They were complete trash and nothing I did or didn't do could've made them any better.

Auto's. I don't like em, weird leathery unnatural looking. Taste off, nearly always hermie.
I don't think they count though. I've grown seedsman auto blue berry, freebie auto ak, and an auto jack herrer from whoever.
Not bashing folks who grow em! They just rub me the wrong way and hate my setup.

I grew out an lsd... nice looking plant a bit tall and good yield but the smell was just too peppery fornmy liking.

Two, AK48 and Super Lemon Haze...those two were a fail for me over and over, figured my fault too, but two patients fell in love with SLH, but ak48 remains my only failed weed.
yes, I've over fed, whacked ph, underfed, poisoned, burned, many others along the way. I still read today that ak48 is selling and is liked by others. SLH has its own following too. May still have been my fault. Theres many strains that are not for me but those same ones are loved by others.
name some of your dud strains? I bet some in the forums would say they loved on them?

try this one again, she is strange. over fed, underfed, equals strange tastes and patterns. when I finally got ot know here I found she actually is a bit fruity, like Critical + tall, small nugs with a stellar swirly effects. Took me years to love her right, only to be bored once I became close to her, sound familiar ......?
