Real discussion on Topping

I have a good example of two plants started at the same time and topped at the same time. Only difference you ask? One was Topped at the third node and one was topped at the fifth node.

I don't know about all but look at the growth difference between the two.

They are both around 3 weeks old the one one the right was topped at top of third node and one on let was topped at top of fifth node.

Good point. The right one is wider. Does a wider root mass contribute to bushier plants?

Good little experiment but results will be very skewed with the difference in pot dimensions. I do want to se how they turn out with the different topping techniques.

OP, what strain are these?

Slightly bigger may slightly effect results. But look at the clear difference in branching. The fifth node cut has almost no lower branch growth.

It's contributed to the branch growth so much the plant may have 6 tops off one cut.

I would say maybe two cups of soil difference at the most. I don't see that changing the results very much or effecting the outcome of branching? Whats your take on that

I would say,you would get more accurate results with the exact same growing conditions. (Pot size included) Just my 2¢.:)

I think the evidence is enough. I doubt that you can believe that a little extra soil effected it in any large way.

Feminized seeds ?
Clones?


If not I'm calling that the one on the left will be a male plant.

It may slightly skew results by not bring a 100 percent accurate test, but it was never intended.

I just topped the plants different and this is the results.

They are the same strain and Yet to be sexed. We will see.

Accuracy isn't 100% important to see the results. I'm going third when my Alaskan Ices have enough lower foliage

Well just to let you in, the experiment shall be further skewd lol the cut above the third node is going to be my mother plant and the other is outdoors already.

I went above the third node, leaving three nodes intact just to make sure you get what I'm saying.

If you can add to the thread with your results, maybe throw in a fourth node top results?

The only problem is my two clones are having an experiment of its own. The left pot is castings and a local organic potting soil. The right pot is the same mix top dressed with blood meal and with bone meal in thee bottom of the pot.
