Really Stinky!

Well I harvested my first plant. However I'm running into a huge problem.
Well it's not that huge it's my house however....
If goodness forbid someone were to visit and recognize the smell well you all know the possibilities.

My whole house reeks and I mean the whole house. You can smell it everywhere.
The coolest darkest place I've got in the house though is downstairs so that's the problem the buds are drying nicely. Not too fast and well I suppose properly given what I've read. The stink though is a problem. I've tried running one of the potpourri things, which is strong by the way, LOL.
But now you smell potpourri and the dank bud.

It's the same concept as someone taking a nasty dump and you spray.
And you now smell like a rose that took a nasty shit. :(
Any ideas?

I was going to move them back upstairs but definitely coolness would be an issue.

Edit the next batch will be in a jar soon too but again opening the jar is enough to spread the smell all over again.
Plus in a few weeks I've got another plant to harvest. That plant I'm amusing is going to be just as stinky maybe...
I'm not too sure it doesn't seem the same as the other plant. The first one that I took, this one, was full of trichs and stank like a mofo.

And how the hell you people can say that these plants smell good is beyond me. They just plain stink sometimes it's so strong it is quite overwhelming actually.
But I shouldn't complain too much that last test well I have to say I've not felt like that EVER.
Even from the stuff that was originally given to me that created these plants didn't even come close. And the weird part was that during the first two hours I felt different levels of high. :)
But then all that junk is coming from someone who never really smoked pot before at least since I'm in my teens. And that was short lived.
I was really tempted to post during my "high" but I was petrified of what I'd say :P

Ok basic easy answer to your problem! Get like 5 of those febreeze plug ins.

Well I wound up moving it all back upstairs...
Kinda figured it's getting a bit cooler up there and I've found a darker part in the growing area.
So that's helped big time. Ugh now to get rid of the potpourri smell.
I'll pick up the plugins.

eat eggs,garlic,onoin and peppers everyday and take massive dumps without flushing each time, so your toilet becomes a shit pit and everyone who comes over just smells shit.

better than getting butt raped in jail

also mix lemon juice with bicarbonate of soda seems to work for smells, think big lol, bucket of lemon juice and 5 tubs of bicarb of soda and mix.

get a bucket of pine-sol and put air pump from a fish tank in it, it will make your house stink like pine

Personally, If it were me, I would buy a "can filter" (activated charcoal), a vent, some ducting, duct tape and an exhaust fan. Take the "blow" side of the fan and duct the output air out of the growing closet in SEALED ducting through a vent or something. Duct the "Suck" side of the fan to the can filter and place the can itself in the room next to the crop.

What you'll end up with is a drying room with negative pressure where all air exiting the space has been cleaned by charcoal.

That sounds like the best idea!
I was just a bit surprised on the smell given I'd put the harvest in my cellar which by the way has a nice big coal stoker contained in it...so I expected that to fix the odor plus I had the windows open for cross ventilation and it still came upstairs to the second floor.
As soon as you open the jars it starts all over, but not as bad as when they were hanging to dry...you can't even touch the things without scrubbing with bacterial soap and a sterile hand cleanser. Or you carry the odor along with you.
The stuff is sticky as hell.
The smoke knocks me for a loop all I need is two good tokes and I'm good to go for a few hours and can function.
More than that well I'm flying for about 4 hours and there are different levels of high. Which is what I did with the tester.
I can imagine it will only get better as the cure continues :).
As to strain I have absolutely no idea. It was bag seed that I found 2 seeds in and then I wouldn't say it was bag seed since there was less than a rolled joint there, it was handed to me in a cig pack.
And for whatever reason both plants are different the first finished up in about 9 weeks of flower the other is still going and I'd say needs a good 2-3 weeks yet. The plant isn't as stinky as the other either.
I also have to say that given the ? of hermaphrodite well that turned out to be nothing I believe other than stress on the plant and fixed itself once it was under less stress and neither plant was contaminated in any way no seeds in the buds :).

Yep. Drying is the stinkiest part, but the charcoal can filters work wonders!

I wquld say that when one is serious about growing, a carbon filter is 2nd priorty behind good lights. I finished a skunk #1 plant that really reeked. But enclosed in the grow space with a quality filter there was no smell escaping. My current grow is greenhouse seeds "big bang". 2 weeks into flower, 5 plants smelled really skunky!! Once I turned on the exhaust and filter, absolutely no smell!!

U have 2 be on top of your smells!!
