Man gimme a break I started off doing this for the hell of it. Its been a little over a month, until I went to this site I thought they were going awesome but apparently It's bound for failure anyway, and this started off simply as an impulsive experiment so if it works, my friends and I don't have to spend so much on weed. If it doesn't work, oh well I'll put a little more effort into. I'm broke as hell so if I get more money then I'll put more into it for better materials. Plus I live in a house I'm renting thats up for sale so I don't know how much longer I'll be living there.
I am growing 12/12 from seed and never have done the 18/6 cycle before, but growing with CFLs i have noticed that when i started, all the materials, lights, soil, extra for each plant was about 30 bucks and that's just bare necessities. (I'm assuming you have a timer, if you don't have a timer, you need to get one! They're anywhere from 5 to 15 dollars Make sure it is only a 24 hour timer and not a 7 day timer though(i learned that hard way
haha))
AND If you are going to 18/6 Veg first, then you need 5000 or 6500k(daylight) CFLs, 23 watts are working fine for me.
But since you said you are selling the house and therefore probably pushed for time, i would just start off in 12/12, you should be able to pull a harvest (although smaller) in 60 to 70 days that way. And you can use smaller pots, you won't need anymore than a half gallon pot per plant.
If you do chose to start in 12/12 i would use a 50/50 mixture of warm white(i think that's what they're called) 27K and daylight 65K CFLs. Keep CFL's 2 to 5 inches away from leaves, no more than 6 or 7 inches or they lose most of their juice for the plant.
And growing takes effort, i'm sure if i add up all the minutes i spend per week messing with my plants it is around 2 to 3 hours
