Really weak stems

Hi, new grower here, DWC 400 mh/hps i'm about 10 days into veg stage after germinating and my stems are so weak they can't hold up the leaves ... just wondering whAT the problem could be, no leave discolouration, i used a fan to blow on them... it just seems to be weak stems, i had to attach my plants to chop sticks via twist tie to get them to stand up... anyone have an idea whats wrong?

I had the same problem on my last attempt:confused: any help would be great?

over watering? or mayb the soil isnt hard enough and they are just pushing against the soil and thats giving out? pack the soil harder possibly

Plants stretch because they don't have enough light. Your MH needs to be within a foot of them. You don't want to put a fan directly on young plants or it will cause wind damage.

Ok thank you AirAnt my light was about 2 to 2.5' away and thats prolly why it was stretching to reach more light. another question too, im using Phillips 100W Agro lights, a have 4 of them, i now realize that HPS lights are better and can be used all the way through but wanted to use these lights up, will they work for Veg? Ima week outta Germination and just started veg.
