rebuild old filters?

I`ve looked and searched, in the forum and DIY, don`t see this discussed. Seen a lot of build from scratch, but no rebuilds of old?
Anyone tried this? or point me to a thread about it?
I`ve got a giant 8" Phresh filter that looks easy enough to get apart(rivets holding the ends of mine- these are easy for me to remove)... just replace activated carbon?

Never tried it. But it should work just make sure it's packed TIGHT and VIRGIN material. If it's loose it won't do the job and you want the air to pass through it evenly. Air will ALWAYS take the path of least resistance.

pop out the rivets, and use allthread to secure the top and bottom. You CAN recharge activated carbon by baking, but it smells like hell.
