Recommendations for booster water pump.

I have been fighting high ppm from our RO unit. We have Well water, it comes out over 1500ppm and after 2 prefilters and The RO unit still hangs around 300-350. When we put this system in and noticed it slacking, i did ask the bossman if the low PSI had anything to do with the high ppm, he said he didnt think so, I figured he knew what he was talking about.

After struggling with our flower room, and now coming up on wk 8, seeing signs of Nitrogen over abundance, im nearly certain a chunk of that ppm is Nitrates. Who knows what the rest is, could be high in Calcium for all i know, Calcium doesnt play well with anyone if it is in excess.

Water psi going into the RO unit and pre filters totally matter.. I am just learning hydro, and this 350 ppm to start has been a wrench in my gears i did not need.

Can anyone recommend a solid booster pump i can throw inline before the filters, im looking for at least 60-65psi to make these filters do what they should do.

How many filters do you have pre-RO and what sizes are they? How long has it been since you replaced the membrane in the RO?

These filters are nearly new. we have only ran them a month and a half tops, they have never preformed proper. it just took me a while to realize that low pressure could cause the high ppm coming out. Only getting about 20 psi to the RO unit. I cut the prefilters out, as a test, and it went up to close to 40psi, i saw under 200ppm coming out for the first time.


This pump from amazon is what i sent the bossman, what do you think about it?

are you in the US?

i just bought a 1/2 hp inline booster pump from harbor freight to water my lawn. i think it was $99. i have a 300 gal container and with this pump, my sprinkler works like a champ. spray gets a good 20 ft in the air.

OMG, 1500 ppm and you don't have a water softener? :o
My water is 650ppm/1.3 EC, I installed a softener before I even moved in!

1. A Softener Protects an RO Unit:
Reverse osmosis membranes are fragile. Although there is usually a small sediment filter in front of the RO, reverse osmosis has a hard time removing or reducing calcium and magnesium–the minerals that make water hard. So by installing a water softener WITH an RO drinking water system, the water softener or conditioner will reduce the water hardness, thus acting as a protective barrier for the RO system keeping it from fouling and extending the life of the membranes.
