Recommendations using crap I have laying around

If you wanted to only do 2 cobs with this size heat sink what would u do? I'm know I'm limited due to the 4.25 width of this heat sink so I'm guessing I have to make a combination that may not be as good. I would like to make something work with the heat sink I have. I don't mind maybe adding a extra fan if need be. I'm just looking for a good combination cob/driver to work with what I have even if it's not using the cobs/drivers I listed

I was under the impression it was not wide enough to handle the heat. Anyone have recommendations on what 2 cobs and driver would work and at what length?

Its plenty wide to handle the heat for most applications. If you were gonna try to go passive at 2.6 amps or something then you might have an issue. How thick is the base, can you post a few pictures, from the end if possible? How much area do you need to light and what is your budget for drivers and cobs?

The base is 13/64 or .206 to be exact for drivers and cobs I don't want to be over $200. I cut and machined this piece to 22 inches long I figured should be more than fine for 2 cobs.

Oops hit reply too early. Really the rest is up to you. For $200 I'd go 4x CXB3070 and the hlg-185.

hlg-185-c1400b x 1 and cxb3070 or 3590 x 4 and a decent sized fan dead center and youd be rocking. After you power it up, if its still to warm towards the outside, add another fan, easy enough to do with the right fan driver.

Are you wanting to use 2 cobs to save money, or cuz you dont need that much light? What are your electrical costs like, you could use cxb2530's at $10 each instead of 3590s at $45 each and make a lot more light for the same initial price, but you loose some efficiency doing that.

You're gonna be in a 2x3 right?

I have 2 cobs going in my 20"x36" and I could not imagine needing more light than what I have. Also I'm at the upper limit with these two of where I need to be temp wise, so double the amount of light would definitely present some tinkering to manage heat.

If you really only want to use 2 cobs, Id get the 72v version and run them on a hlg-120h-c1050b, add a POT so you can adjust the brightness as you see fit. You could also spend a few more dollars and get a 185h, which would leave a little more V on the table in case you ever want to redesign your area.

Cutter electronics in AU has them, Im sure other places do also but I havent researched. What are you drilling from the side for?

I decided to make a box. This is a test fit and seems like everything lines up but it needs some refinement I may cut the height down a bit. I also don't know why I made it with the angle showing on the side. I obviously need to change a few things. It's about 4 1/4 wide 3 3/8 tall and 22 inches long. This is my first build so I will make improvements as I go on. There will be a cover that will close up the sides but haven't messed around with that yet
