Reducing transplant/major surgery shock

Hey Rollers,

I inherited some plants from a friend. Her son was growing them on the sly and she confiscated them when she found them. Not that she minds, it's just they live in suburbia and her neighbor is an ex-cop. Naturally the risk of growing is high so she passed the little babies onto me as I live on acreage - I have plenty of space and no neighbors.

Unfortunately, her boy had just planted a heap of seeds in 2 x 2 inch'ish pots so you could image the nightmare I faced trying to sort that out. Some pots had 6 x 3-4 inch plants in them. He bought the seeds online (apparently) so I'm guessing the strain is half decent.

A few plants got away unscathed, but some I had to perform major surgery to separate and pot-up properly.

Just wondering if anyone has any recommendations on reducing the stress some of them are facing from the move. They're in soil and I'll give them a nute boost when they've settled in but until then, I've only really used some seaweed juice in the soil prep. They're all actually doing okay so far, no signs of major stress but there are signs of stress. I'm sure they'll pull through. Just wondering if there's a bit more that I can do because the surgery was a bit intense for some of them and the road to recovery will take a while.

Wouldn't normally worry about it, but it does appear to be worth the effort. I'll be cloning the real nice ones ;)

Cheers

Dont water or feed until they recover, they dont need it and it makes the stress worse with no air to the roots.

Thanks BUDS. Unfortunately, they didn't last long. Got signs of root rot 12 hrs after I posted this and it was all downhill from there. That coupled with the transplant clearly didn't go down well. Quite disappointing since it wasn't bagseed :(

Any Aussies here getting seedbank seeds through to QLD? I'm doing my first RTW hydro grow with some bagseed I had floating round. Will be looking to get some once I get the gist of indoor growing. Hopefully fellow QLD'ers have got some tips :)

They all died??????? bummer! some should have made it though....unless the plants were way wet and the soil you moved them into was way wet....and did I read right....you trimmed the roots???? that would not be good.
