asking around and looking aswell. I can't find the real name for the stuff.

the rock polished aluminum thats in most light reflectors, I am looking for sheets of that. Does anybody no the real name for it, and where to find it?

Prefer local shops like HD or Lowes, etc
thought it might be in the section of HD or Lowes where they put that brass or copper ceiling decor, but they don't even have that.
Thanks a bunch

try "Sun Sheets 2 x 4".
do search, these are $150 for couple pieces, but if you push your search (yahoo or google) you can find it for half the price!

its high reflective aluminum with "dry lake" like grooves for rigidity and hot spots.

Diamond plate aluminum might do the trick, if it's polished up well. Maybe that's the stuff you are talking about? I've seen home made reflectors made out of it before.

diamond plate is great but cost so much..
ofter diamond plate is coated not polished.

you can only polish aluminum if it is pure, but many times it has magnesium (white tinted aluminum), and it is impossible to polish magnesium to mirror.

I was doing the same thing--looking for a reflective surface and compared---flat white is like 95% I do not think you are going to find much more then that. I use the Styrofoam from homedeepthroat 7 bucks a sheet reflects light very lite weight and wire and tack and fly strips stick to it pretty well too. No mold or mildew either. I use velcro tape but in hindsite double sided tape does the trick for insulation and many other numerous positive reasons. Aluminum has I think around 82 reflect and mylar is like 88 needless to say you are getting a bountiful no matter whcih direction you spend. 20,000 lumen at 90% reflect minus the distance (inverse Square law)
18000 within the first foot of reflect. (for argument sake) reflection so there is about a 10-15% loss or gain pending on which side of the money your on.
