Reflector ?

I'm setting up a grow area in a bathroom using the shower stall. This will be for one waterfarm.

I am in the process of buying a 400 watt mh/hps system and would like to get the budget wing reflector to save $. I think I can get away with this because the shower stall door has an 11 1/2" x 24" opening. I will place a fan at the top of the stall near this opening pulling air out to the rest of the bathroom and a circulating fan at the bottom of the stall. I'm thinking this should keep things cool enough as the area is not as enclosed as a tent but would appreciate comments. Hope this works because I'm just about at the end of my budget.

And you're exhausting the Hot air out of the bathroom as well,right? Simply exhausting it from the shower stall into the rest of the bathroom will cause the ambient temp in the bathroom to go up really fast unless you plan on exhausting that air out of the bathroom as well.

He is only going to shower on the days he needs to water.

It's a second bathroom in a guest bedroom. I can open the bathroom door during light on periods. If it's a problem I'll get some flexible duct and exhaust it through a window which is currently closed off with thick cardboard. Might just do that anyway.

you should close that window off with wood if you plan on growing in there.

Why wouldn't thick cardboard work covering the window? Three layers. I can't see my hand in front of my face with light off.

I'm looking at the iPower setup. The cool tube with 6" reflector looks kinda small to me. If y'all really think it's necessary I guess I'll get the inline fan and duct tubing but wish I could get away without having too. I also have a six inch hole at the top of the shower stall where a light was recessed. I've removed the light so there will be another area for air to escape. Can't vent there though as it would take up too much space with the duct as the stall is only 6 1/2' tall and hopefully I'll need that height even though I plan to SCROG.

you dont have to have a hood like that you can go bare bulb, just get a fan to blow directly on the bulb and have the inline fan/carbon filter at the highest point you can get and exhaust through your 6" hole in the ceiling.

I KNOW! Damn homeless keep stealing MY cardboard, too!!

It's just me in the house. I'm an older guy with sealed lips in a middle-class residential area with large yards. Shrubs cover window which really can't be seen.

I don't know if I can use the hole at the top because I might need the height that duct coming out of the hole would block. I haven't planned on a carbon filter (yet). I've looked at some DIY ones and I figure that when the time comes, if I need one, I'll either buy or build.

Yeah, I was planning on the bottom fan being tilted up blowing toward the light and the fan above it blowing out through the opening. I think that will work and save me 50 bucks over the cool tube. If it doesn't I'll get some duct tubing and place near the light pulling air out.
I just wanted someone to say "yeah, that'll probably work" or "no way is that gonna work". At least before I buy which I'm just about ready to.

you can get some cheap filters out there, better to just buy it than DIY it, the cost int he end is really about the same.

I really like panda film for covering windows as its white and completely opaque. Nothing says "don't you wonder what I'm doing in here? Like cardboard or even better, tinfoil.

You may get away with not running an air cooled light. I would get a hood anyways, bare bulb is for vertical. The super sun II an the blockbuster are two of the best hood out there right now. I would say blockbuster given your height. The super suns blast light down. You have to get them 16-18" off the tops to get your 3' wife coverage. (Talking 600 here)

One idea for you, if you live somewhere that gets cool at night is to convert your window to a light proof and sound dampening cooling inlet. You would basically build a tall box around the window and attach your fan to the bottom
Of it. Think of a "periscope" kind of. It's really just a big wooden box, painted black on the inside. There is a big hole the size of your window on one end, and your 4" inline fan mounted on the other end. The greater inlet size afforded by your window will eliminate the whooshing sounds. You can also install a one way damper between your fan and the box to prevent air from going out of the window (smell).

Hook it to a temperature controller, it gets hot, turns on, and the hot air is passively forced out the hole in the shower.

Side note, your going to have to move your plants and stuff when it's time
to shower
