Removing fan leafs that are blocking buds from getting light.. should I cut them?

hey everyone,

i currently have two 'Ice' plants from Nirvana and they're doing swell!!!

as of today, they're 21 days into flowering; or the first day of week #4 of flowering,

either way you want to look at it.

My question here is, and I've never had to do it before (or really never thought of it I guess).. but on the bigger plant of the two I have, her buds are getting bigger and bigger by the day.. but the problem I'm seeing.. is that the fan leafs that the plants develop during the veg. cycle.. seem to be shading out the light. I've read about people cutting off the fan leafs.. but I've also read that this is counter productive
to do, during the flowering cycle.

Anyone have any advice?? Should I just leave the leafs alone?? and just let the buds find the light themselves?? or???

I'm leaning towards just leaving the leafs there.. that way I'm sure to avoid any problems that this could possibly cause the plant.. especially during flowering.

But if its possible.. and if its the better thing to do.. then I may just consider it.

Any advice is appreciated... and thanks in advance to those who are nice enough to leave helpful tips/advice about this question.

My latest discovering was that the buds that where furthest from the lights had more trichs on them. Much more.

leave them alone, they need them for food and energy, only cut them off when they are 90% yellow.

Thanks dude! You the man... appreciate it more than ya probably realize bro.

Just tuck the leaves under the buds.
That's a good thought.. but I think I'll just stick with leaving the leafs along all together. Until harvest that is.. of course.

Thanks everyone.. for your time and input on this.

Remove any dead leaves asap, leave healthy ones on. I would say if you want to you can cut the leaves in half the last week to speed up the lower buds; I have done this with no problem

isn't if ironic that everyone knows that light is bad for thc (during harvest) but want to cram as much light down the plants throat during flower, when actually the strength of the sun is less during natures flowering season,,,,food for thought

glad you noticed this, been trying to tell everyone forever it seems

This is my Super Lemon Haze. Look at the buds then look at the leafs. I left them alone. They fall off when ready. But if you are in a tight area, yeah pick off dead ones.

Yeah, I'm doing an experiment where I switched to a Ceramic Metal Halide for my last week of flowering... seems like the trichs are going nuts! I would think it mimics more of the natural lighting in nature, when the light temperature goes from gold back towards blue. not to mention the added UV-B which triggers trich production as the plant's suntan lotion

so curious though... when growing with cfl's, in veg you want it like 2-3 inches away from the leaves.. but in flowering, think it would be better to back the lights off to like 6 inches or so?
