i think the answer is in what you wrote they truly will "adapt" the Irish lad is correct but is adapting, thriving?
again someone already said what will happen is the plant will put unneeded energy into regrowing leaves instead of fattening buds, everything you read tells you that the plant needs leaves for growth
i am actually more confused with how this simple biology is escaping people.

I think people are getting confused on the difference between raw nutrients from bottles we feed, and plant "food" as the processed nutrients, post-photosynthesis. Post-photosynthesis "food" are carbohydrates & sugars (G3P), amino acids & proteins , and hormones. Plants require these to grow, and delivered threw the phloem. These are what make up the mobile-nutrients part of what we feed the soil\hydro (out of the bottle). The other non-mobile nutrients, remain in the Xylem until they find there destination for use.
