Rental Car Liability Ins. Question.

My brother-in-law is supposed to be coming down this weekend. My wife and I were going to rent him a car, and have him reimburse us after he finishes his work in the area. One thing. He has no liability insurance. Is there any short-term way to remedy this? Has anyone ever been in a position to inquire about "temporary liability insurance"?

A rental car [from the company] usually has a moderate priced coverage plan that comes with the car, optional. If you're renting from a friend, then it gets more complicated.

So if he doesn't have insurance, the rental institution can provide a short-term (Weekend) policy for him?

Yeah I've been reading. It can be very costly. Do you guys have a ballpark of what it may be per day?
