I think you could do better with stronger genetics. Trying to help you without offending as I know genetics can be a touchy subject.Really? LOL...

If you going purely for yield then your probably not going to get the most fire genetics but more big bud type plants. No, I didn't take it as offensive at all. If you are referring to the last photo, it might just be how it looks in the picture. It's Pineapple Express and is really rock hard. It's the least fluffy of all the strains I am currently growing, in fact.
That said, I always strive to do better. Many times I ask on RIU about the best genetics for my setup, but it is so subjective that the answers are all over the place. I just harvested 1/2 LB from 6 plants under @300 watts of cob. They were Pineapple Express and Critical Kush. Which means at this time (if I harvested all at once instead of staggering) I would pull 24 ounces from the space. 672 grams, 1000 watts, .67 per watt.
Yea, I want to do even better! So, yea man... what do you feel I should be looking into as far as heavy yielding genetics with tons of trichs?
SLH was in my garden for years..I loved her...Right, I've tried the Big Bud crosses and was not impressed. I grow tons of different strains because I love variety. Some make the cut, some don't. And it's not just yield, of course. Right now Super Lemon Haze, Critical Kush, Pineapple Express, Northern Lights/Chronic, Top 44/Blueberry, and Apollo 11 Genius Pheno are currently in rotation. I have come to think of Critical Kush and Pineapple Express as the "performers" in the garden. SLH does well, but it takes a while and grows really long, but I am addicted to the smell and taste. A11 has always been a favorite for a fast sativa. The other two are just being tested on their second run.
But shit, what else should I try? Blue Dream?
Try running an OG or chem cross , blue dream another that's a big yielder if you have access to the clone only if not you might not get a good cut.Right, I've tried the Big Bud crosses and was not impressed. @Tstat I did not mean to imply u dont know how to grow lmaoLol, I've been growing since the 80's and have tried tons of strains. Again, some make the cut, some don't. This conversation only turned to genetics because of the comment on the bud picture I posted.
I am always looking for new strains to try, but I'm pretty happy with what I'm growing. I hear about stuff like Blue Dream and want to try it. If anyone has other suggestions of particular strains I'd love to hear them.
In the meantime, I need to buy one more cob light so I can ditch the hps. Just wondering if the Photon is still the best deal. Anyone?
It's really not bogus. Some strains get fat nugs some don't. Same size plants at flip.@Tstat I did not mean to imply u dont know how to grow lmao
I simply implied that no matter this whole "High Yielding Strain" thing is really bigus..Except for certain know Monsters, example bing Big Bud/Blue Dream ,GG#4 as of lately
again I am not speaking on the 80s and ur growing skills my man lmao,,just the pics of ur post and the statement the other fellow commented maybe u should try different strains...It hit home based off u being new to Cobs and based of ur grow ,maybe those are the wrong girls/genetics..Hps And Cobs grow worlds apart and again,Im with u brother,,shit if u got this,I must apologize lol..That is why I did offer from the get go just being constructive..
Im starting to wonder if something is wrong with me cuz I too have been growing soince the late 80s, and hell I think I learn new shit every month lol
anyways good luck my man,and peace an love
u lost me bro..totally cluelessIt's really not bogus. Some strains get fat nugs some don't. Same size plants at flip.
Man u r doing awesome for what ur working with ,,then lets not get to the MailBox idea lol..friggin cool as hell lolExactly! We were tripping and sitting around talking about growing this weekend and I was saying that even now, after all these years, I still get revelations about what I should or could be doing.
Like I said earlier tonight, I always want to improve, be it genetics, nutes, training, or whatever. That's why I love this hobby, well one of reasons, lol.
Really, this is all about switching from hps to cob. I love hearing opinions on all aspects of a grow, negative especially because they can only help, hehe.
So, like if you look at the earlier posts, I have a 7x3 space that used to have 2000 watts of hps. Right now I have 4 "mailbox" cob lights running at around 100 watts each (4000k) and a Northern Grow Lights Photon 180 at 3000k. I still have the 600 watt hps which I want to relace with another Photon, or other light running 3000k and 200 watts or more.
That replaces 2000 watts of hps with 800 watts cob. I was looking to go as high as 1000 watts, like the the title,of thread says.
Yeah genetics is the most important part about growing . That's why so many people horde seeds and constantly pop new ones, it's always a huntExactly!
