3 girls 1 pot :P

Bagseed middle eastern Sativa strain, starting 5th week of flowering. Was flushed 2 days ago. pH over 7.5. Rootbound.

Lower fan leaves are yellow and wilting. Younger leaves at the top seem to be rather small (but maybe this is normal) and also quite droopy and cupping (see pic).

Should I repot?
should I repot to fertilized soil from the plant shop?
or to sterilized soil from the hydro shop?

Yeah i would throw it in a bigger pot. I'm sure you might get "I grow in a matchbox!" but personally I'm a fan of bigger than average pots.

I'd go with the hydro shop soil, not a fan of store bought fertilized soil.

cool thanks!
Do you think that if I do it right, it will still stress the plants and delay flowering? any further recommendations?

and about unfertilized soil - how do I go by so that the plant doesn't starve?

Did you notice the amount of stalks in the photo? I count three, in a pot half the size of a water bottle. I'd take the chance on a hermie...

OP - Have you been using any nutes up until now? The point behind the clean soil is you know what and what amount you are giving your ladies.

Leave her! She's going to stress if you transplant. That often leads to hermies.
The lower leaves are using up the available nitrogen.
Try enzymes and nitrogen.
- Blue Mountain Organics Super Plant Tonic!

thanks, would you recommend grow fert?

Let them finish out and remember not to do it the next time. No need to stress them and risk killing them.

yes you are right, 3 girls in one pot, though quite bigger than the bottle...
i hardly gave any nutes through the whole growth. coule of days ago some bio bloom, then i flushed. the thing is im a n00b and i dont really know much about ferting, afraid ill burn esp with the root being bound

At the moment I'm still thinking not to repot. Some people have said it might kill my plant. This is what I'm afraid of. I can handle stress and shock for a couple of days, I can even handle hermies - but I won't risk my plants' lives, not after three months of dedicated growing, and for the first time in my life (to have grown any plant!). Who's with me on this?

I would still like very much to hear more opinions, personal experience and thoughts.

ok here's another thought

what if I replant them using the safest way - just putting the whole pot inside and cutting out the bottom of the plastic pot? Do you think that could be done in a 100% safe way? or this might also damage the plants?

perhaps this would be a compromise - while not giving so much new space for the roots (though i've heard that if they have even the slightest path to new room - they'll end up using it), and perhaps taking longer for them to grow more - I'll be putting much less stress and risk for the plants?

what say ye?
please guys i need more opinions on this.

Well this would be my method. Separating roots wouldn't be a good idea at this point. Like i said, its what i would do but opinions vary as i said in my OP.

Good luck whatever your choice.

:peace:

ok i just repotted one of my basil bushes :)
it's my experiment plant. very useful, I recommend to everyone :)

It had pretty much outgrown its pot and was rootbound (though not by much - it only covered some of the outer layer of the roots, i saw this when i transplanted) - so i transplanted it into a slightly bigger pot. I wanna see how this goes for him, and how it will handle the sunlight tomorrow. Too bad it's not in flowering though, that might have been a better simulation. it actually keeps going into flower, but i just rip them out cuz i want to grow and grow :)

Slide the root ball out of its old pot, try to damage the roots as little as possible, but a small amount of disturbance wont really matter. Put some fresh soil in the bottom of the new pot, put the root ball in and surround with fresh soil. I always find the girls go into turbogrow as the roots penetrate the fresh soil. Good luck.
