Well according to the specs provided by Philips, CMH are by far better than both MH and HPS combined. If I keep my 250w hps I'm thinking about picking one up when it comes time to use it. As far as I know they only make 250w and 400w at this point. I think I saw the 250w for around $50, which is still much less than a 250w Hortilux bulbs.

I think there are a few reasons you don't see many people using them. For one, as far as I know they are only available in 250w and 400w. The more serious/vet growers usually use 600w and 1000w so they can't try them yet. Another reason I think is that some people just don't want to change. I agree, if something ain't broke don't fix it, but I'm willing to take a chance every now and then if I do my homework. I think another reason is the lower lumens. The 250w CMH only throw off 20,000 lumens. Your standard hps is around 28,000 and I believe Hortilux 250w claim to emit 32,000 lumens. Sort of an old school belief that more lumens the better isn't exactly the case. Even though the CMH only emit 20,000 lumens, the enhanced spectrum makes those lumens much more available to the plants. If you do a google search you should find the spec sheet from Philips.

Personally, I'd go with a CMH if I had the chance. Just to be clear though everything I read about them is from the manufacturer. But based on the research I've done and my general knowledge of electrical/electronics, I think they are superior to standard hps. They put out more blue than a MH and more red than a hps. Keep in mind though that even though they are called ceramic metal halide, they are meant to be used in magnetic HPS ballasts. I don't think they will work in MH ballast or digital ballasts unless the digital ballast is rated for CMH.

That was some great info, thanks for sharing! Shit if the price is right I might just go with a 400 cmh and call it a day! We will see when the time comes, I might be stepping it up to a 1k watt so only time will tell!

I know exactly what you mean about working those hours!! You don't have a life, period! I wasn't even barely working 40 hrs a week and I still didnt have time to do shit.. You have a day off and it doesn't even feel like it, I hear you though a job is a job, I'd take what I could get right now for sure!!

Thats pretty much what I'm doing too! Its just when I moved the fan and lights around a little I had to plan with the angle of the fans again. It seems to be staying around 86 now so thats better than 88 or higher..

This damn KandyKush is blowing up wide and tall!!! I have a feeling I'm going to pull a couple oz's off her :)

Wouldn't a couple zips be fucking splendid off one plant? I mean, just thinking about harvest and having multiple oz's just for me: fucking joyous.

I have 1 KK seed on the way so I hope to learn from your grow,so you top from the 2nd node to get the four right? Than I saw that you topped them also,where at though? these questions I would love to be answered by you because you are my reference, my last grow was a freebie from attitude called LA Woman.

Smellytreez i kinda latched onto this thread quite late but im loving the look of all the plants!

Was just wondering how long it took u in total to train ur kandy kush to bush out like that etc before flowering?

Glad to have you zoso!! Yep you got it, right from the second node! Then I gave her 2 weeks of recovering and topped all 4 of those tops the same exact way. Pretty simple actually, lmk if you have anymore questions, I'm happy to help :)

Hell yea, glad to have ya first time! Your just getting to the good part actually haha..

I would say it took somewhere between 5-6 weeks before I threw her into 12/12.

KKs a stretchy bitch, what's she grown in the last week? 5-6 inches it looks like. Is she a sativa dominant strain? The mystery girls looking good also.Nicely done!

Shes sure is lol, I'm not really sure to be honest but she sure does seem more sativa dominant compared to the other strains Ive grown.. If I had more room I could lst her even more but shes gotten about as wide as my area can handle lol.. I would say your probably right on about 6 inches since she showed hairs, "a week ago tomorrow.."

Good to find this, I just got a freebie Kandy Kush seed I'm germinating waiting to pop in my journal.
I hear it takes longer then 10 weeks to flower, more like 12 or 13, anyone else have any experience?
