Results from a 1000w hps start to finish?

Alright so I'm thinkin bout starting up a 1000w grow just wondering how many plants I could throw under it using a SOG and how many I would get by growing trees. I was hoping like 15. And I was hoping for like a pound and a half. Sound about right?

6x6 i would say maximum of 36 p's
how much space u got, and is this your first grow?
dont expect that yield unless you following a guide to the letter.
1gram per watt 1000 grams max i would say depending on how long you vegge'd

Try doing 25 to one light. Make sure you veg for two weeks with the 1000watter. Its overkill but better than flouros. Keep it at least 3-4 feet away from the plants.
It you have more lights you can do more plants for example. you would do 55 for two lights because you could get away with doing a row in the middle from overlapping light.

If it didn't go well with a MH don't expect miracles because you switch to an hps. Don't forget 1000 watts means A LOT of heat!!!! Any how, i have seen decent success with a fair amount of stretch running 34 under 1 1000 watt, although you better have your shit on lock down if you expect a pound and a half. 680 grams means every plant has to get 20 grams at 34 under 1 light, sounds easy till you try it, they kill each other when that tight.

Make sure you get a quality bulb. No sense in having all that energy at 2700K. Get the 2100K bulb, and if you have a digital ballast then get the bulb designed for it.

You are being a bit ambitious. A SOG would work best in a 4x4 capacity (5x5 total with a few inches for the plants to hang over the sides. If you packed it tight, I'd say 64 plants (8x8) is probably a good bet. Figure 12 grams or so per plant and that's over 750 grams.

I think 7 plants is a good number for a 1000w lamp with a plant in the center and the rest in the shape of a hexagon. You can grow plants to about 3 feet tall and a good foot and a half wide and fill a 5x5 area with bud sites pretty easily. 7 plants would need to harvest 4 ounces per plant to match the SOG setup. Totally possible, but maybe not as easy as the SOG.

I think the 4x4 ebb&flow SOG (or coco slabs) is what you should be looking for. If you get a mother plant and a cloning chamber squared away you can be harvesting every 9 weeks, which is pretty much 6 harvests a year. That's the potential for about 8 pounds a year without too much trouble. Get it dialed right and it could be more.

Well I'm not to worried about heat or anything like that. It's is in the basement and the light will probably be air cooled and it will probably be cool down in the basement too. So if anything I would have to get a small heater to keep the plants warm at night. But again I wasn't trying to get like 50+ plants under one light I was hoping for 15 with decent results

SOG and large plants should give you about the same yield. The main point of SOG is to facilitate rotating plants in and out for a perpetual harvest.
Optimum coverage is about 4x4. 4 plants properly bushed and trained will fit very well under 1000w lamp. Flowered at about 18-20in should give you about 36-40in at finish. That's about the light's penetration limit. If you lollypop them, add 8-10 inches to the height measurements.
An added bonus, I bet 4 plants is a misdemeanor in your area. Don't know if I could sleep at night with a zillion plants in my house.
Hope this helps,
Fred

I use a 600w hortilux hps bulb on a light mover in a 11' x 6' space. I can get my lamp closer to the tops without the risk of burning them. Also gets light to the lower branches as it moves across the room. Advantage: less light waste than stationary 1000w lamp with considerably less heat. I can easily fit 20 plants in there.
