Try this! I have done this my last 2 grows, using regular seeds. Run 12/12 the first 12 days your seedlings are above ground, then flip to 18/6. Starting on about day 28 through day 32 or so, your seedling will show gender without going into flower! Works about 90% of the time. I got this idea from here. That should work, but isn't the least stressful way for your plants. If you can't take clones to sex while the main folks be vegging for some reason or another, then go for it.
You can always try my suggestion and then try your original idea if it doesn't work. I've done about 50 plants this way.
It takes me 2-3 weeks to get roots so I thought rebegging may work better

Revegging a plant will at least take 3-4 weeks or more, Plus it will take 7-10 days once you cut the light time to show sex take cuts much faster an easier on the plant.
Reveg is easy but they do it slow. The plant will go all the way back to producing 1 finger leaves... then 3 finger. It will take a month. I'd take the advice and flower the females and take cuts before you do
