Yes, I am aware of where I am at. I was asking for the sake of people who have been here long enough to have "friends" and not for a constant form of communication. As people who have been here knows that if you receive a PM your message box feels up pretty quick. A Instant message feature would be useful to ask a quick private question without having to create a whole new thread about something pointless that no one cares about.
I understand you concern. But an IP is not a locating device as it only gives a general area of where your location could be. I think a lot of people are using proxies now anyway.

But, what about having it where the only people that can contact you is in your friends list?
I mean I know where I'm at, as in I know I am on a grow site. I also don't need you telling me that this isn't "fakebook" aka Facebook as you say. I'm also aware that this isn't Facebook.
We are all anonymous anyway. We have screen names. Unless your birth name is Nutes and Nugs, then in that case, you had some cool parents.
