Should RIU have a Instant message feature?

You could alleviate this with the option to only have people in your friends list be able to message you. If some noob wanted to ask you a few questions, you could add them then delete them if necessary.

Could do, like a selection process or just a bigger message box. My box is always full. I don't mind less than serious questions sometimes but I would block questions abt my avatar. I don't really use fb anyway. I chat internationally on whatsapp.

Anyway the OP seems to have put some thought into this so watch out RIU don't offer him a job!

Instead of the IM. Just click there name and post on there wall. Then you don't have another screen (IM) poppin up all the time

Too much work? How so? In a message, you get the notification, you click that, then you go to the message then you type in your message then you click send and so on. And if you are truly interested in the convo you are checking your box for another message or waiting for a response. :wink:

I'm, we do have IRC chat and an ignore feature.

As for private instant messaging you have the option of displaying your Skype, AIM or whatever information in your profile/under your screen name. You can always just PM eachother further details. Lahada, you have my number? I have What'sApp, too.

idk, i'm a member on a few other forums that have this option and i think it's great... chat pops up as a small screen on the bottom, if you don't feel like talking, close it out, easy cheesey japensey..

plus it's good imo over pm's b'cuz you might just want to ask some stupid ass question or want to talk to a friend.. sometimes pm'ing back and forth can clutter up pm limits rather quickly imo..

i know that v bulletin has the option to have im's..

riu instant messaging...id totally go for it to edit spam or trolls youd just only be able to instant message your friends

I mean we do have the IRC chat but it isn't very attractive, private and a little slow, you also have to chat in a separate window, but we DO have an instant messaging/live chat feature.

skype is for government surveillance and controlling our minds.
i put gaffers tape on all of my computer cameras, and both of the ones on my iphone.

for what its worth to bean counters, I probably would not use it.

besides that would be just another feature to be hosed up when upgrades to
the site are implemented.
