Sorry to hear devil. I trained to conduct raids but was only in on one. The suspect jumped out of a closet and tried to grab an officer's shotgun. BAD, bad idea. He ended up shot, permanently disabled due to a point blank blast to the hip. He's in jail and the officer that shot him counter-sued and has secured 1/2 of his disability benefits.
Talk about getting fucked upon by the law... hahah... all I have to say is if your gonna go for a cops gun.. you better get it... or prepare to get shot.

my uncle has been a cop for 30+ years. he has always known about my smoking, plus about 5 of my cousins smoke too. he's cool with it though, he's on board with legalizing marijuana.

he told me once that he pulled some kids over, found beer and pot on them, he took the beer and gave them back their bag of pot.
WOW a cop giveing drugs to a minor and its ok.......Yep your kids are to be trusted with Cops. That almost makes PRiest look good.

budlover, did you get your panties in a wad if someone you had pulled over wouldn't consent to a search?

This is something I've always wondered about, too. How often in this situation is the subject detained until a K9 unit can be brought in to sniff around the car a little?

And is it also true that many of the dogs are trained to give a false positive should the handler so desire one?

I would explain that it would be in everyones best interest to allow the search. I never searched unless something didn't seem right so when I was refused a search, I did everything I could to gain consent. I don't think I really got mad, but I did become determined. In MOST cases, you can get the search done, even under protest.

It depended on the situation. Most times I could convince the person to let me search, but if they refused and the K9 was on duty, I would call him in. As for false positives, I never heard of someone admitting to it, but I would think it would be pretty easy to train a dog to do it.

Two flashbangs went off right by my head, then the door came crashing in followed by about 20 fully armed police with MP5 sub-machine guns, vests, kevlar helmets . . ." Mind you, we deserved it....lol. But it was kinda freaky. Just glad I was off the other shit . . ." Not just paranoid for no reason. And this was in BC, not LA or New York.
What did the pigs find in your house?

There are reasons I am paranoid. I really dont want to go thru a SWAT (ERT) raid again. Two flashbangs went off right by my head, then the door came crashing in followed by about 20 fully armed police with MP5 sub-machine guns, vests, kevlar helmets and various other ass kicking shit...lol.

Mind you, we deserved it....lol. But it was kinda freaky. Just glad I was off the other shit, otherwise I would have been blasting them, then been blasted myself.

Not just paranoid for no reason.

lmfao dude i hope your ok now?or are you the kinda guy that hits the floor spread eagle when a loud noise is heard?

By the school of thought that if there is nothing illegal in the vehicle, you'll be on your way. As in, "Well, I stopped you for speeding but if allowed to confirm that there is no contraband in your vehicle, it is within my discretion to give you a warning instead of a ticket." Obviously, if you DO have something to hide, DENY THE SEARCH! That's your best bet. At least if you deny and they do search anyway you can fight the legality of the search.

i think he meant that it would be a lot less messy for everyone involved (mainly himself since he was speaking as an officer), not that it's actually wise to potentially incriminate one's self. just think. if you really do have a pound of crack in the trunk, and you know for certain they won't give up until they find it, it's like saying you may as well consent before they charge you with obstruction and a bunch of other shit on top of it. i still would admit nothing, but i can see how they would try to spin it at the scene.

its MY RIGHT to deny a search wether I have something or not.....THE COPS HAVE TO HAVE PROABLE CAUSE...fuck the cops Im not giveing up my RIGHTs.......make em work for it ......When pulled over step out of car if they ask and lock the door put the keys in your pocket and be polite and ask why you were stoped......if he ask to search ....its their scare tactics to force a search......just state your rights to search and seizure.....WE WILL GET THE DOGS....go for it get em.....most time thats the end if it adn your are on your way.......so what they have to get a search warrent and like the ex-cop said........fight it in court not on the side of the road...DONT BE BULLIED and have your rights just riped out of your hands..............Ive done it several times and they say move on....and I have had em get the warrant and find nothing. WHy did you refuse if you had nothing...cause its my Constitutional RIght to be safe from Bullies......Never fuss or argue... be polite and stand up for your rights. IF they do find something welp you made em work for it and if you get a good lawyer youll beat a roadside ambush by Bullies or go to prison.....LOL

How the fuck could a cop tell if I was wearing my seatbelt or not?

Does a cop always have to enforce the law if he catches someone breaking it, or is it according to each officers own discretion on scene? For example, a cop catches me smoking weed, I'm cool and cooperative, not giving any problems, could he just give me a warning and tell me to be on my way, or would he technically have to cite me or something because I broke the law?

Excellent advice StonedPony. A LOT of the searches I conducted were not willingly, but under duress.

MOST vehicles have the seat belts visible through the windows. It's fairly easy to spot the lack of a belt running across your left shoulder.

The majority of the time the officer is allowed discretion in when to arrest. The above stated situation happened many times in my career. There are SOME laws, such as domestic violence, that takes the discretion out of the officers hands and are considered a "MUST arrest" situation.

You're the same ex cop who was at icmag with the same thread? You were like a cop for 2 years or something? Would be cool to have a cop with a lot more experience I guess.

By the way, I for one don't give a fuck if you're a cop.snitch. or whatever but I do think you're a colossal loser for even making a poll like that.
