The shop vac worked wonders! It also straightens out any white hairs that are leaned over, without pulling them off or damaging them!

I may do a partial harvest tonight, probably not. I want to take down the one that looks most ready so I have some clear/milky trich smoke, so I dont fall flat on my ass after smoking. I heard these things really pack on weight if you let them go amber but i want some personal satisfaction for myself too.

Here are some pictures.

In pictures 1,4 you can see what is near finish and what isnt even close. I'm gonna let the ones that are not even close go atleast another 10 days.

In picture 2, you can see hints of color in the middle of all the buds. Those are the ones near finish. They're showing signs of purple leafs, probably because i've been keeping temps down but either way it looks sweet. lol.

thanks for the comment on the new thread brotha im hopin my colas come out like urs. i was gonna PM u bout it but figured u could answer here. i see uve removed most the fan leafs or they naturally fell off? cuz its like straight mass cola in that room haha. ur last grow looked more leafy to me. im thinkin cuz sumwhere a page or so bak i remember u stating sumthing bout pretrim harvest to lower the workload? ive also read in a book that trimming before harvest can give good stress that pushes the buds more... i cant remmeber if it was in regards to yield or the CBD level. anyways let me know ur theory cuz im using ur grow as an example for my grow...

Hey Boomer.

I've always believed that if the plant is taking all that time to GROW those leaves, then it needs them to make big fat juicy buds! I think of them has little sugar factories. All that time and effort and nutrients into filling those big lucious dark green leaves with insane amounts of delicious sugars.

Now, flip the timers, and you're into the FLOWER stage. The flowering stage is where the plant is "dieing"...really. Now, its going to develop little bud sites and once those are set in place, the plant is going to start using all those sugars that it took sooo much time (veg) to make, and put them into those juicy tasty buds that you do indeed want.

So why spend all that time forcing sugars and carbs into the leaves, if you're just going to remove them. As you can tell, when a plant starts to run out of nitrogen, the leaves (OLDEST BIGGEST LEAVES FIRST) begin to turn from green, to a very pale yellow.. Now break off one of those yellowing leaves, and juices will be running out of the stem like a tear drop, and they will most defiently have a flavorful scent to them.

I am a huge believer in leaving the leaves on the plant. In my opinion, you want to maintain a proper level of nitrogen throughout the flower phase, so you
dont have to feed Nitrogen to late, as it causes harsh, grassy, hay tasting smoke.

The objective, in my opinion, is to maintain the proper level of Nitrogen in the leaves so that when it comes time to flush, by the end of the flush all of your leaves are PALE yellow. They will die off by themself, if un-needed.

The ONLY reason I trimmed off the fan leaves that I did was for two reasons.
The first reason was because of spider mites. I noticed they loved the lower leaves and seemed to web up right where the leaf/stem meets up. Removing these made it easy for me to control my spider-mite issue.
The second reason was because of the dead leaves. They looked ugly, so I got rid of them..ADD kickin in.

Throughout this grow, I noticed that a lot of the buds that I peeled back and clipped the fan leaves that were deep in the buds, filled up those gabs and left me with some excellent nuggage.

I think the best option, after going both routes, (not de-leafing ANYTHING vs delafing EVERYTHING) led me to come to some good conclusions. I think if one were to want to deleaf, they should wait until the finishing weeks of flower. I think robbing a plant of its energy/juice is a horribly mean thing to do and I think you will be punished greatly for it.

Everything mentioned above was pure opinion and theory that I came across after my own personal experiments...none of it should be considered fact.

Another thing to note is, best case scenario, you flush everything and everything turns pale yellow, purple/pink leaves (zinc def.) and you should have some super high quality tasting smoke.

----

tonight my ADD kicked in when I got home. i've been wanting to take a plant down and have been talking about it to my best buddy all day. I dont know why i am getting so impatient but it's really starting to kick in, so I took down my most ready looking lady.

Can anyone guess the weight?? -- I'll weigh this one separately.

The last picture was the plant that I took down. The picture was taken 12/05, 9 days ago... The pale yellow leaves are a sign of a proper flush, which eventually turned pink/purple on the bottom sides.

haha and u say im crazy... idk bterz between ur ADD and my OCD we mite go to the loonie bin together!:fire::dunce:

but ya makes sense cuz im lookin at ur nugs now and looks alot better then before. but u added another lamp and learned alot last time so of course it all helps. i forgot about the mite issue so i guess removing leaf matter fixes that lol. ya ive read about the good stress factor by trimming fan leaf off during the last two weeks of flower and peeps that trim everything off week of harvest for a rpeharvest trim make shit easier. ur theory makes sense to me and experiment is the name of the game. but i agree with the flush. good one is a must.
i forgot wat my orignal weight guess was but ure gonna wait to weigh it once dried rite? wet weight dont count 8)
i think i predicted 45oz dried. i think ull hit that easy. my math was the simple gramxwatt ratio

Ya I hope for .75 gpw so that makes 48oz dried. If I hit that mark I would be more then happpy.
how much you think is pictured above, hanging to dry.

EDIT: Maybe my ADD and your OCD will bring us good things...

hmmm that mite be more realistic then my guess haha. idk how many plants u had packed in that damn room anyways. id divide it up that way since everything is almost symetrical buuut ya a 1/4 would b sweet

LOL I cant tell if you're kidding or not.

I dont go by plants, but more so GPW. I make everything fit in there like a puzzle, so GPW makes more sense as my canopy is pretty even, but the majority of my plants are going to have a huge different in weight.

meaning, 1 plant may only yield about 3/4 ounce, whereas a couple look like they're going to push over 2oz.

I have 28 in there..27 now. lol

haha im very very sneaky... naw i was serious bout the quarter oz tho.
i dont worry about plant count either considering i learned the GPW formula is best to go by and if u work ur canopy rite u can yield the same with one plant as 4. well maybe not exactly but u get the idea.

Ya I understand.. Wait you think there is only a 1/4 oz in the picture of the buds hanging?? LOL I hope thats not the case or else im gonna end up with about 5 oz total!
