RO water kills my plants.

Sounds like you need to learn about basics before making more comments.

RO water should be EC 0.0. It's doesn't screw up the waters EC, it should make it zero. That's the purpose of the RO filter.
Most don't go all the way to zero. A truncheon won't read it, but even the really good filters only get down in the teens PPM wise, and those extremely low numbers only lasts a couple of months. I know that this is basically splitting hairs, but I just wanted to point it out for anyone who reads this and thinks their system sucks.

I literally bought an apec water systems RO system off of Amazon and I’m getting consistently between 1-3 ppm. I’m using well water going into a salt softener system, then through a big blue 3 stage filter system, and finally a uv sterilizer, that is what feeds my house. I just took a line off of that to feed the RO system, and it’s awesome. So awesome in fact, I had to double my 4x8 tent to an 8x8 tent mid grow. Lol. My 12 plants are drinking about 4-5 gallons a day. I have a bluelab monitor, and my ph hasn’t gone above 6.3 or below 5.7 ever, since switching to RO with the ph perfect nutes.

There's suddenly a large amount of RO water machines at supermarkets and shops around here promising "the best, pure drinking water".

Kinda strange....

They recommend mineral replacing filters for consumption purposes, basically they strip everything from the water, then add back essential minerals like calcium and whatever else. That’s probably what the dispensers at the stores do.
