Hi there, so im having a bit of an issue with my 4" rockwool cubes retaining water. Some hold the water and others just release the water near completely. They don't look damaged, ive soaked them to transfer clones into them, but some of them just won't hold onto the water. This is my first hydro attempt so im new at this.

personally I don't ever dunk and soak my cubes to rinse them, if you stack them on top of each other they will actually leech the water out from the top one, while still effectively rinsing any dust and getting the ph you want. Also you don't want your cubes to be super heavy when you put your baby in or your oxygen to the roots will be limited and will almost immediately look over watered if you are hand watering do low amounts daily until they get a little larger and start drinking more

Both have there up n downsides but it harder to fuck up in soil...beginning growers should always start in soil
Yeah I hear ya, i like to soak them first to get all that alkaline rich stuff out first, but i agree, you don't want them to be to wet, i just use hydrogen peroxide to oxygenate them more.
For sure soil is good, but im over soil because you never know whats actually going on in the soil, you need to trust it will all balance out. I prefer having more control.

Really i find im trying to always correct a problem in hydro..coco/perlite mixes are great alternatives if u cant produce from hydro
Yeah i hear ya. Ive definitely considered Coco. I feel like it might very well be a perfect middle ground between Rockwool and Soil.
