Rollercoaster Weather

Here along the PA/WV boarder we have been experiencing a very erratic summer. Some days are quite cool-mid 60s, some days are rather warm-upper 70s.
The temperature has also had some rather dramatic fluctuations at night, dropping to around 50 at times. My concern is my outdoor plants, many of which are preflowering. Are they running the risk of intersexing (herming) because of the weather or should i not be concerned?

Lol the weather has been the same where I am. Some days cool, with cloudy coverage ,then rain, then hot this summer has been crazy. Maybe Im noticing because Im actually watching the weather for the first time in my life. I have even noticed the temps a little cool at night.

Cool, I was just logging on to make a weather thread. I'm in Indiana and the weather here has been just perfect, almost like God is telling me "good job".

fellow Pa grower here. Up around the lake it's been about the same. It is going to be interesting this year. I had a clone from a L.A. Confidential that turned into a herme. or i should say that it was showing male flowers and i had to cut it down. so i would say that this year there is gonna be a higher than average number of herme's which really sucks.keep posted on what goes on with yours.

Will do. You keep me posted too. I plan on kililng the males, but if most of my girls hermie, then well, i guess ill have to bite the bullet and let nature do what it does.

the weather is crazy all over . its been the wettest july in 100 yrs here and is really causing probs, with normally high humidity the additional rain has exasperated an already problematic situation with mold and fungus . good luck to all...

I cut another male the other day and i think i see a herme or 2. Im not entirely sure yet still. The rest are confirmed females and all in early flowering. Lots of nice white hairs. With all the culling, my pots are pretty sparse looking. On the bright side, there is less competition for light and nutes. Since the roots are completely entangled there is no way i am going to risk trying to remove the stumps from the males that were cut. Doing some calculations, i determined that the plants, raised from seed, got 4 months of veg time, a month and a half of flowering time so far, so im anticipating harvest towards the end of september possibly mid october.
Some stems have purple in them some hairs are long, some short. Most are indica dominant, but i do see a few that have strong sativa traits. Im guessing, based on the looks of the plants, that i have 4 or 5 different strains. Growing with bagseed from a couple different sources means every plant could potentially have different genetics and profiles. I could have my own mini cannabis cup. Granted they are not NAME BRAND plants, but i can still have a good time just the same.
This grow has promped me to do lots of reading and research. In the past 5 months, i have gained so much knowledge which is very rewarding unto itself. I still need a lot more experience but every week, i do gain a bit more. My indoor grow room is almost completely built and ill have it up and running by November with a proposed harvest of April. I will put together a journal for that in the indoor growing area. I will be growing more bagseed and if i get any seeds from this harvest (which i hope i dont), ill use those as well.

well if you have or had a hermie, you will most likely have seed, as it seems your plants are close together. but dont worry abut that, you'll have seeds for indoors. boy, indoor growing is so much easier, no "weather patterns", tornadoes, hurricanes, high winds, droughts, thiefs, helicopters, groundhogs, grasshoppers, fungi, locusts, ........wow, i admire you guys ;-)

I have had no insect problems this year. A couple of nibbles here and there but nothing more than that. The big prob has been cold nights and too much rain.
If i end up with a few seeds ill be ok with that. One more step in creating my own strain. In november i will be starting an indoor grow journal with pics. I have been saving the biggest and darkest seeds from various bags for the grow. I have about 40 right now and anticipate adding 10 more from this last bag.
It will be a combination of CFLs, T5, and T12 lights in a home made soil mix. My only concern is air circulation/exhaust. I have to work that out still and buy a few more supplies.

Thanks to all who have been following my posts.
Happy growing and toking.

Did you end up with any mold? Id be so angered if all this work went to nothing. All of my tomatoes got a fungus because of the rain and cold weather. Wiped out almost my entire crop without harvesting any. Its heartbreaking.
