Rookie Grow Journal, 3rd year harvesting

This year as opposed to the two years before, I will be growing outside in contrast with before. With 5 females last year and 5 ounces harvested, my hope is to come close to matching that with 7 still undetermined outdoor plants. I hoping for 4-3 females, and over a QP in weight, and will do it with less than 100$ and a 40$ nutrient pack from fox farm (bigbloom, growbig, tigerbloom). my friend last year grew two males in an outdoor set up that were over 8 feet tall and climbing when he cut them down because of their uselessness. I am optimistic it will be a good harvest.

Pictures will be posted in a few hours to show the setup and supplies.

My initial supplies I purchased today were,
45$ of fox farm ocean forest and happy frog soil,
20$ worth of very large pots,
and 7 baby plants ready for a new home (free as courtesy of a good friend).

Here are some tips for you...

• FoxFarm soil has A LOT of nutrients right out of the bag, you shouldn't need to use any nutrients for the first 2 - 4 weeks depending on if you mix your soil with any other aggregates to help facilitate faster draining, and the climate of your particular area. I have seen many growers burn their plants right from the start due to over zealousness with nutrients and Fox Farm soil.
• Spend a couple extra $, and also get Fox Farm's Bulking/Booster products for a noticeable weight gain during flowering. I'm talking about Open Sesame, Cha Ching, and Beastie Blooms. I'm not a Fox Farm guy at all, but using those products did make a different when we tested them.
• Male Marijuana plants always grow faster than Females, so you shouldn't be comparing your friends males, to your females, that is just setting yourself up for disappointment. That's not saying you can't have 10+ foot female plants, just don't expect them to grow quite as fast as the males did.
• The more aerated your soil is, the more you can water your plants, which means the more chances you get to feed the plants nutrients. Something you should try to always take advantage of.

thanks for the advice on fox farm, ill definitely have to pick up those additional fox farm products. Im confident given their 1 ft in height now that in 3 months they will be fairly tail (not 8ft) but somewhere around shoulder level. The pots I have for them are massive, and I know from this site that using fox farm nutes you should use like 1/4 of their directed measurements and work your way up. I have a small layer of sand and gravel on the bottom of the pots (about 2ft in diameter) for filtration/aeration. I'm realistically optimistic I think

How do I aerate the soil more? poking holes? having a certain materials in the soil? I've been only watering once every4-5 days
