room temp problems

i have 4 seedlings growing in a 3x3 closet under a 400 watt hps. i started them under a 75 watt compact flourescent, but once i switched to the hps ive had problems with the temp. the first 18 hours on the temp. was at 90 so i added a few fans to cool it down a little. didnt seem to work so i raised the light to see if that would help. the next day the temp got to 100 and two of the plants layed over. i bought a glass shield to go under the reflector and an inline fan hooked up to duct on the vents of the reflector and the temp is now at 78. does anybody have anything to help me out? how can i lower the temp a bit more? and the humidity is about 40 wut can i do to that? i also put some supports on the two plants that were layed over to help them stand. their still growing and everything just no stem support, their leaves look healthy and are bigger then the two plants that didnt fall. need osme input please.

i think 78 is an ok temp. ive heard that anywhere between 75 and 85 is ideal. it sounds like you hooked up the reflecter just right too, especially if the temp came down 20 degrees. my reflecter doesnt have a vent and im sure it will be an issue when winter ends
good luck with your grow, sounds like you have it under control so far.
