Root aphids??

Hi guys, sorry for the double post (posted in plant problems before I found Bugs) but me and Buddy are freakin’ out here. What the hell are these?? He swears there’s no spider mites (that’s what some of the damage looks like to me)

edit: thought I’d add more information. All these pics are from one small tent, no signs of them in the other small tent. There are 4” pots, clone boxes and 1-3gals. The plan was to move all plants to their big veg/flowering location in 48 hours which is now CANCELED, but my understanding of root aphids (is there a difference between root aphids and aphids??) is the best thing to do is lose a cycle, kill everything, throw out all soil and cloth pots, bleach the hell out of everything multiple times, then do it again, before even thinking of restarting with completely new stock. Am I going overboard here? I’ve fought the good fight with spider mites, thrips, and everything found outdoors many a time, everyone has, but these things terrify me in a way those didn’t.

Those are aphids. You can just spray them off with water.

Aphids, not root aphids..? Is there a major difference? Is there crossover/overlap? My understanding is the only solution ultimately is nuclear—completely new stock, empty room, throw away grow beds, multiple bleach scrubs, apocalypse. Are you saying these ones aren’t the Devil Aphids and can be treated? Thank you so much for the quick reply, I feel slightly better already but I thought aphids=lost cycle

Aphids are one of the easiest pests to get rid of. It doesn't require all that stuff you mentioned. Where did you hear that? There's too much nonsense floating around the cannabis growing community.

Just spray them off. You're still in veg so it's a simple task.

Or don't listen to me and trash everything and spend a couple hours scrubbing everything down for nothing.

Thank you!! What I posted was for root aphids specifically, which I thought these were. But you’re saying they’re more like a common/garden aphid that I should spray off with a hose outside then treat with neem/organicide a couple times then good to go?

Yes. Spray them off and then give the plants a neem treatment. Spray the top of the soil as well.

@xtsho is very correct and you’ll be wise to follow their advice.

aphids are really quite simple to get rid of.

i would like to see more leaf pictures as I’m sure I can see black fecal dots on some of your leaves but because focus is on the aphids it’s too blurry to be certain.

it appears as though you also possibly have thrips feeding marks on some of the leaves (silvery looking scratches) try to take some pics of leaves with damage or scratches etc.

Look like root aphids to me.

Those are the worst... worse than mites indoors.

The way you know they are root aphids for sure, you will see low growth from the plant and shoots near the bottom with wither up and die

ALSO CHECK THE ROOTS, if a bunch are in their. ROOT APHIDS. They suck. Hard Core pesticides and clone if you want to save the strain

Had the same problem I dish soap sprayed squished the rest let soil dry added lady bugs and no more, did a transplant and roots are good

hi Purple, thanks for the reply. I inspected the roots of the two worst infected plants and they looked really good/vibrant/no crawlers, so I think I’ve just got hemp aphids. They are the spitting image of Google image hemp aphids and that was my growstore counter diagnosis as well. Just a variety of foliar aphids, suggested regimen was spray off with a garden hose/rinse in the sink/manual removal, then a pyrethrum dip. I didn’t have the suggested product on hand (PyGanic, sp?) so I used good old organicide, plan to treat them with that every three days for 3 total treatments. If I see adults or nymphs I’ll start the regimen over with the hose and switch products
