Even if you do tear down and restart you are gonna have to pretreat your new plants with something. Myself, I am giving up the fight for awhile. Maybe try it again in a few months, these fuckers are just too much for me. Good luck everyone.
Could you expand on this please?
Have you tried tearing down, deep clean and restarting? What did you do or not do?
I have stopped everything, did a deep clean, sterilized all surfaces the best I could and now I'm ready again with clean cuttings.
I prefer to use hydro nuts, smart pots and coco.
I've cleaned the smart pots using a washing machine with bleach. I did two cycles back to back.
That should be enough right?
I would like to know more about eggs and root aphid over wintering strategies. Does anyone know?
Here is a question and answer I asked on another forum:
_______
Hi,
I went through a severe infestation and now have nothing.
I am preparing again by sterilizing with bleach and a few pyrethrin foggers in my grow area.
I am wondering about eggs.
Can root aphids fly out of the growing area and lay eggs in the washer, dryer room or the basement, or in the foyer?
Aphid Reproductive Styles
Aphid reproduction alternates between a sexual phase and an asexual phase. Most aphids are females produced asexually
with males (also produced asexually) appearing in the fall to produce winter eggs. When aphids mate, fertilized eggs are
produced and the offspring follow the same genetic mixing that other animals do. Unlike the standard insect method, most
aphids are produced from unfertilized eggs a process called parthenogenesis, and are born alive after a period of development
inside the mothers body. The easiest way to introduce the different modes of reproduction is to follow the aphid life history
through the year. Although the following scenario is typical of aphids, some aphids use different reproductive cycles. This
complete process normally takes place on the stems of plants, I would recommend to make sure to remove any old leaf matter
from the grow room. It seem you have done a great job of sterilizing your grow room. We are also going into winter and
aphids dont like cold weather so you should be good if you start back up. Just to keep in mind that this might be a normal
cycle in your yearly growing cycle. What I mean is aphids might just come around every year around this time because of
the area you live and you might have to just prepare. I would also suggest you dont grow the strain you just grew because
you know know aphids like it!
let me know if this helped!

Nice response though the person did not answer my question at all.
What unreviewed info I have about eggs is:
* non turbulent air flow
* prefers warmth
* egg laying preference (I obtained this from a couple of commercial feed crop pest websites) is up, as in leaves of trees
If anyone could chime in, I would really appreciate it. My questions are enlarged text and bold.
thanks a lot
