Hey growers! I have my girl in a 5 gallon pot of ocean forest.. is there any way she can get root bound in it? I transplanted her from a solo cup just before she got rootbound in that. It was clear and I saw all the roots around the cup. I did a good transplant job, she didnt go into shock. she just kept on growin. But is there a way she can get rootbound or will she be fine?
It looks like growth slowed down a bit thats why im asking.. although it could just be me observing her too much.. its my first grow and its exciting lol, thanks RIU!

As your plant gets larger, it has much more area of branches. These all grow in length and girth. You need to stop stareing at your plants. I try and only look at my plants ever 3 days or so. You should only do this when your system is dialed in correctly though. This way you can notice the growth of the swelling of the buds better. I grow 6 foot plants in (2) gallon containers of Coco. If I used 5 gallon containers I could easily get to 8 foot to 10 foot. If the strain would allow. In other words, you would have a monster if you got root bound in a 5 gallon container. I believe it is best to keep you plant in the smalliest container possible to complete the harvest. If you have to large of a container, the soil will always be soaked. Even though where the roots are there is little moisture and very little nutrients. More is not better when growing. My plants are usually about 16"-18" tall before i remove them from the 16 ounce beer cups.

Thanks guys! I knew 5 gallon pots are usually final home but it just seems like growth slowed a bit.. there's no way it can get rootbound then? Well thats good, maybe something else is causing that. Is there a good forum on slowed down growth? My plant looks pretty nice. She's very bushy and showed female preflowers. But it seems like its taking a while for new leaves to grow, like I said though I could be looking at her too much. I topped a week ago and maybe that's it.

As much info on the conditions would really help. Other then that revert back to post #4, and stop placing such small plants in such large containers. Just My opinion. I get much better results if i do not have excess soil to be soaked wet with little to no roots. My plants do better if the roots are a little balled up.

5 gallon pots can grow 15-17 foot plants, if you knew how. 5 gallons of soil is HUGE!!!!!!!! I admit I now grow in COCO. But even when I grew in soil I not once saw a root bound plant in a 5 gallon container. And I once had a 10 foot MONSTER that was 6 four in girth. I Named her my "House of Horrors" The BITCH just would not stop growing!!! I even went as far as to shut down a whole crop for that CUNT! Do not get me wrong. It was a very deep felt Love/Hate relationship. For a single plant. I got a HUGE amount for OUNCE/PLANT. But for WATT/GRAM it was a bit below average. And that girl took a long time to hit final stage. As I remember, it was 15 weeks of flower. And she was showing flowers in 2 weeks. But I had my system set up for max Nitro uptake, with out understanding. So the Chick Ran with it.

To get the Best of Bust Ass Buds. Your System needs to be DIALED! If not, you can do all kinds of FUNKY stuff. Kind of fun. Try testing some things. Like Clone a nice 3 inch bud. It starts out with leafs that look like single leaf Spinach. Popeye would have fun in this grow room!!!!
But then about 3-4 weeks later. The bud will start to stick out branches and not just single leafs. These little starter branches with have three leaf spreads, growing into 5 and 7 groups and so on. The plant will finish off 2 months later with the same bud at the base, just fractured off around the stem. I did this test when I snapped off a bud with about 2.5 inches of stem. I cut it with a kitchen knife. Then placed a rapid rooter under the faucet. I then placed the bud stem in the rapid rooter. No Care for contamination. This went under regular water glass and placed on the counter. I checked it ever 4 days like clock work for moisture. About 12 days later it was showing roots. It is all like I have said before. Treat your plants more like a BOOTY call then a Marriage. If you are always tending to your plants and what not, they will shy away. But if you slam it to them and walk away for a while, like 3-5 days, they will have a need for you. You slide on in; give them that wet stuff they need, and a bit of the love juice. And they will swell with their love. But if you are in their space 3-8 times a day, misting, watering, touching, sniffing and what not. They go Pffft.........

In other words. Do not crowd the lady. But give her just enough to feed her needs, and excite her, to desire more.
