root rot! what to do!

ragged crushing

i just got home from work and when i opened my box there was a slight rotten potato smell:neutral:. i noticed it was coming from the water so i went to check ph and tds and noticed that my air pump had been unpluged along with my fan. can anyone say sabotage!?:cuss: anyways now my root system is tainted beige but not one spot of brown. my plant hasent shown any signs of discomfort besides the slight neut burn due to creeping ph. i just put it in straight h2o @ 5.8 to try and flush the plant and the color from the root system, am i ok or will it be in shock for some time?

You might want to try a little Hydrogen Peroxide. The extra Oxygen molecule will help your roots out. I grow in dirt, not hydro, and never had any problems adding it, but I would just check your PH to be sure it doesn't go one way or the other on you. In dirt it doesn't have any affect on PH.

H2O2 isn't for organic grows. Soil or hydro. It should only be used fro inorganic Hydro.

You did the exact right thing, good for you, got the plant out of the rotten water and into new water. now make sure you got good bubbles and it should pick up and take off again over the next few days. it will be fine, make sure water temps are under 75F also.

1) By "Organic Grow" you mean organic soil and organic ferts, or is there more to it?
2) Why wouldn't you use H2O2 for Organic? Just for my info.
3) Thanks.

Organic is using soil (coco included) and/or hydro with organic nutes.
H2O2 kills the bad bacteria and stuff. But also the good one too (the good ones that break down nutes to elements that the plant can then uptake)

Make sense?

Yes, that makes sense, thanks. But what I'm thinking is why wouldn't the H2O2 do the same thing in a dirt grow? Know what I mean? What is in the dirt that keeps the H2O2 from killing off the good and bad bacteria?

H2O2 in soil will kill the stuff. H2O2 is only for fully inorganic grows.

O.K., this is where we must agree to disagree. I have never grown in anything but dirt, and I have used H2O2 in every grow. I've probably, nix that, definately used way more than the recommended dosage of the stuff too, and NEVER had the slightest problem what-so-ever with "nutelock" or anything else. Just harvested my most recent grow last week, check out the pix. Grown organically w/H2O2 included in every feeding. Maybe others have had problems with it, but I never have. What do you think? :bigjoint:

How much you adding?
And using the 35% or 50%? (or using the 3% drug store grade?)

I buy the 32oz. bottles of the regular 3% stuff at the store, but I usually add 1/2 the bottle(16oz), plus ferts, to my 2 gallon mixing jug.

Well its sure as shit is working for ya! Props!

Thanks for the props bro! Who knows, maybe the 35% or 50% stuff is too strong? Maybe the 3% stuff is diluted enough where it is beneficial to the plant without killing off the good bacteria? Peace!:bigjoint:

I shold say that I grow with FloraNova in hydro. It has some organic additives to it and I also use a little 3% h2o2 if my temps start creeping above 72. I never have any problems either.
