Root rot?

Hey guys.

First off, thanks for all the help over the last week or two. I clearly have an issue with root rot happening here, or starting to happen, and I'm not sure what to do. I'm utilizing the proper amount of Hydroguard, but honestly it looks like the rot is happening on the root portions that aren't in the water, so I'm not sure what to do.

I'm currently freezing some water bottles to use as makeshift ice cubes to lower the res temp, and I'm not sure what else to do really.

It don't look good that's for sure! What worked for me and
it's probably overkill but it's the way I run now.I run 3ml hydroguard to a gl of water,1/2 teaspoon of great white I believe is the name of it to 3 gl of water.
I use a 2 part of something that starts with a Z,sorry I cannot remember the names but I'm close enough go to the store they will know what I'm talking about.
I might would throw them away depends how much time I had in them. Good Luck!!

hey man, I been fighting the same battle. Fingers crossed I'm on a winner now.

1st mix up some fongarid - no nutes and set ph, and bath your roots in that for 4-5 hours.

Rinse your buckets out

Use De-Fuse at recommended strength +nutes and a multizyme moving forward.

I'd also keep your water levels up so you only have 3/4 of an inch between the basket and the surface of the water.

And hand feed for the first 24 hours so you can kill the spores in the existing roots

I was excited by how good that de-Fuse is I shit you not.

Stay clear of bio nutes untill your roots come back and they all white.

Maybe even then.

Whenever someone has root issues, they tend to only post information related to water temperature, teas, sterilizers, without giving basic information about their setup, which is almost always the cause of the problems.

What are you using for nutrients? What's the EC? Almost everyone with root rot issues has too low of an EC, or is using a mix not suitable for hydroponics.

Also, if the brown parts are not touching the water, your water level is a bit too low. The water level should be about 1 inch lower than the bottom of the netcup when full.

GH Flora Trio for nutes

PPM is currently around 400, and I believe my meter uses a .5 conversion factor.

I've raised the water level another gallon and I'm trying my best to lower res temp.

That all sounds good. If the foliage looks healthy, there's probably actually nothing wrong. (other than the water level being low)

So far all new growth looks good. I did trim off some old, damaged(necrotic) portions of leaves from when I didn't have a PPM or pH meter(Yeah, dumb me) today, which is also letting light hit lower, healthier growth.

It makes me feel a little better to hear you say that. Either way, I added another mL of Hydroguard today to be safe. I don't think you can OD on that stuff, anyway?

I sound like a sales rep now, but if you can get a bottle of De-Fuse you can save a lot of heart ache. I bounced between a lot of fixes from h202 through to benificial bacteria. My temps sit a degree or two to high also. So after a bit of a saga 24 hours ago I added 1m per litre of De-Fuse and I have seen an insane result. New growth in roots and previously stained roots have come good. I can't praise the stuff enough for DWC . I will be using this moving forward in each res change.

Has anyone else used this??

Definitely willing to try whatever. Just a little tight on money after all the stuff I dumped on this setup. Need to wait a bit before buying more stuff.

Water level too low. The roots inside the water are pale white. Don't mess with any chemicals you might mess up big time. Fix your water level.
