Roots breaking the netpot, too late to trim?

Hello, been reading around the internet to learn how to grow, this is my second grow with deep water culture hydroponics. I am having a problem with the roots breaking the net pot is there an alternative? Also It's just past my first week of flowering and I think I may have vegged too long because the plant is growing to large and my light isn't hitting the whole plant anymore. It is a 600w digital ballast light, the seed was germinated November 18th, It didn't start growing until December 15th, then Vegged until Janurary 6th. I am reluctant to trim the leaves which aren't recieving light because I have already started to flower and I've heard that trimming during flowering can cause reduced yields due to plant stress.

Is there an alternative to using plastic netpots? Will triming the foliage under the canopy help or reduce my yield?

Thanks guys!

I trim the secound week of flower. Take off the bottom 3-4 inches of leaves to let air move under the plant. Then work up taking large fan leaves to let light thru. Then walk away. I haven't seen low yield. Still getting 4-6 oz a plant.

i have had net pots split on me a few times its just some of the main roots get to fat and force there way through the smaller holes of the net pot, dont worry about it aslong as its still stable your allright, i had no problems and plant was still fully surrported, keep up the good work

Try lst to open up light to lower level. Net pots will break at times now roots will hold media together. Worst case wrap a few times w zip ties if they look like they will blow up to never seen it personally but have seen pots split in spots

I finished trimming the bottom 4 inches, lst looks like it would take considerable time, I have a scrog net half built, I might wait until the next grow and use that. (here is some before and after pictures)

You can basically remove the bottom 1/4 to 1/3 of the plant.(usually a couple weeks into bud cycle) This will concentrate grow up higher where the light is hitting and produce bigger nugs instead of wasting a bunch of energy producing popcorn nugs down below!

It's been a month and the plant wont fit in the closet anymore, got some nice big nugs, but like you said the bottom part of the plant isn't producing much. I didn't trim again, although I did tie some of the nugs to the side to let a little more light through and make some space in between the larger nugs. I also added 2 x 2700k 45watt clf's on the side to help the growth there also. It should be ready to harvest by March 6th, and I'll post the yeild. I may be selling the setup after this grow as it's taking a lot of time to take care of the plant, it would help if I had a resevoir so I wouldn't have to check the ph twice a day and add water everyso often, the mushroom growing is looking pretty cool.
