The other thing to stop the circular rooting is air pruning holes in the container. Or invest in air pots (tm) Same thing. I have not tried that either,
For me after a few years at this, I did the complicated route first and now I fall back and back, toward simple and repeatable. I have that now, though the repeatable is still a lot of work.
I am just not sure that in an an 8 week veg, root circle matters at all. Only size matters for yield, and I am out of room already with only a 40" x 40" bloom table. It holds 4, max.
