roots, stump of a stem no leaves or branches

it looks like a stalk approx. 2 1/2 inches tall and 1/2 inch in diameter sticking out of a rock wool cube which is inside a hydro pot which is sitting an inch or so into the resevoir.
i bet money that within 3-6 days the top starts to turn black. for those here that have actually harvested a plant, have you ever left the root ball and stem in the media for a few days? tell him

Yep. If the media is wet, fluids start to come out. Mold grew out of the top of some of them.

If it is dry it will prbly start to fold in, covering the hollow point of the stem.

It's just not going to happen. Promise.

Actually, there is a set of leaves before there is a root, within the seed

. A seed holds the cotyledon (the little first set of leaves). The cotyledon absorbs food from the endosperm. Enough food to get itself free of the seed and above the soil line. Shortly thereafter, the plant is hungry. With the cotyledon leaves now above the ground, the plant can absorb light to make energy. Through the whole process, even before the sprout, leaves are involved. With no leaves, no growth.

Wait a few days and the root system will not look healthy.

Reveg is your best bet if you are really wanting to keep the genetics.
of course youre absolutely correct. dont know how i got confused. i took clones of a flowering plant today. its not that i care so much about the genetics as much as i was trying to salvage one of my limited options as seeds are very difficult to come by here and my only other choice was clones from a flowering plant. unfortunately theyre not in my possession so i cant keep an eye on them as much as id like and i forgot to put holes in the humidity dome. I wont be able to do it for another 12 or so hours and i'm worried that ill ruin them in the first day. where i live is very hot and at the moment at least until tomorrow they arent recieving any fresh air with temps reaching nearly 100 degrees. also I'm using an 80 watt flourescent within a bucket completely lined with mylar and the clones are sitting inside the bucket. too much light? thoughts on controlling the temp and humidity? Ill be adding an air intake tomorrow as there is already a powerful outtake I just hope they survive until then. all suggestions are appreciated.

How can you be so sure? I've seen trees leveled to stumps which bring foliage right out of the stump and regenerate. Can you possibly expand as to why you believe that it cannot produce new growth?
Trees that will come back after being hacked to the ground generally have root balls that a truck couldn't pull up without help.

i dont know if there is help for you. first you kill a plant and insist to experienced growers that it will grow back. second, you have what equates to an ez bake oven for your clones. sarcasm? no. disbelief? yes.

throughout this entire thread i have insisted nothing. I have inquired and solicited help.

It may be called weed but that is the only resemblence to a weed MJ has. It does not grow like a weed. It is, as was said, an annual plant that if cut below the first node is finished.

This healthy plant:

To this:

With a few small leaves remaining, a healthy viable root system and it lasted about a week. The little leaves grew for 2 days then shrivelled up and died.

A stem with no roots and no leaves will not grow.

The leaves and the roots take in / store / convert nutrients to useable building material for the plant. The stalk / stems are like shipping channels for these nutrients.

If you have no raw materials to go down the road to the refinery and no refinery and no warehouse storing material you have no material to build with.

You have a stalk in a piece of rock wool, you have a road... you are missing some critical parts to this equasion.

so i cut holes in the humidity dome and added an air intake vent but its horribly hot where i live and i'm interested to know if anyone has any tips in regard to reducing the heat and raising the humidity? so as to help ensure the survival of the newly cut clones. unfortunately i had to take them from a flowering plant. I initially thought the plant was only a week or so into flowering but when i saw it i realized its flowering closer to a month. i removed the flowers from the clones and cut the leaves in half. I used clonex gel and theyre sitting in rock wool cubes under an 80 watt flourescent bulb.
