So is it ok to b have roots growing out the bottom of your 5 gal smart pot

Yeah but the fact they are growing out the bottom would indicate the roots are not air pruning probably due to been sat on the floor keeping it too moist where if it were raised the root tips would dry and air pruning would happen.
