Clones cut straight from the mother, could some dark period - say 4/20 (not 420 time) be beneficial for root growth, rather than no dark period at all 0/24?

I think you are asking if clones need to have a dark period...the answer is no

And they really need very little light. I use a 26w cfl over 15-25 cuttings.

yup, 5 watts/sq.ft is sufficient i've found

And correct me if I'm wrong, but typically the on time comes first. As in 20/4. They'll do at 20/4, but I leave my clones on a 24/0.
