roots

Don't over water especially when plants are young. The roots will grow out to find more water. I like to keep my medium wet at the bottom and let the top dry out a little bit.

check out a grow bible for the proper temps, humidity, lights, schedules, nutrients, soils etc and follow those directions.
I did that long time ago and nothing ever made that a better experience.

if you talking about clone roots, try a chem dip like clonex, and a rooter plug like rapid rooter, follow those directions on the packages.

I heard somewhere that its best to let the medium fully dry out before watering but I thought the roots would dry up and die. what do you's think?

thats basically what I do. not sure if its completely dry, but Ikick the bucket when properly watered, then daily to check weights, it becomes as automatic as walking around in my grow room. if the soil is completely dry the plants will tell you, with droopy leaves, a watering fixes this in a half hour, not suggested to wait though. plants show symptoms before they die, unless you grow with bubbles or bottles.
